    CO2 In the planted Aquarium

Nice work, cheers for that. I'll mention here that the disadvantage of pH/KH/CO2 tables are that other acids caused by bogwood and decomposition can effect the results. The tables referred to assume carbonic acid is the only acid present. That's why drop checkers are increasing popular as the...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

Could you post the dimensions of your setup? How tall is it and how wide with all the gubbins fitted. I'd like to see if I can fit it inside my cabinet.

CO2 MEASUREMENT USING A DROP CHECKER

No, you can't increase the levels of CO2 by changing the KH and/or pH. The tables that you see give an idea of the levels of CO2 in a sample of water given a certain pH and KH due to the levels of carbonic acid caused by CO2. Pure H2O will have a KH of 0 but a pH of 7 due to the lack of Hydrogen...

CO2 MEASUREMENT USING A DROP CHECKER

Wouldn't that be the same as using RO water? i.e. reducing KH? Always a risk of pollution lowering the pH but that would depend on where you live.

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

If the GH is zero then surely the plants are being starved of calcium and magnesium?

    EI DOSING USING DRY SALTS

Just reading that and a big flash went off in my head. Aha, I thought, I remember mitochondria from my school biology. A little black bit in cells I recall. I also remember ATP, although I recall it as Adenine TriPhosphate. Has it got garbled over the years, or is Adenine different to Adenosine...

Pruning - A general guide to plant maintenance

Depends how vigorous the plant is really and how much you do it. Roots could rot or it could sprout again. If they rot it may be OK and would provide a bit of nutrition for the replanted bit, but do it too much and you could get problems. I'd say cut in half and replant and if you don't want the...

    Fire extinguisher CO2

I'm very tempted with that myself - and it's my birthday in a few weeks! It looks like it comes with a euro plug. Is there any issue with fitting a 3 pin plug to it i.e. wrong voltage? How high is the whole thing assembled? Wondering it it will fit in my cabinet. Any bad comments? They make a...

CO2 MEASUREMENT USING A DROP CHECKER

Yep, just seen it and it helps to see things in black and white. Nicely written.
