Glad you got to the bottom of it.
My first thought was K deficiency but I'm just trying to get my head back into the planted world.
This used to be my quick reference guide;

Well, that and the Duckweed index!
distracted by what? did you study 2 master degrees?
Glad you are still about.
I just started back on here this week for the first time since 2011 too!!!
I'd say a bubble a second would be about right, you may even need more.
I wouldn't risk turning it up without getting a drop checker or two in there first.
your CO2 sounds REALLY low to me. I'm running nearly 3 times the bubble rate through a reactor (so no loss) and my drop checkers are light green. My tanks only slightly bigger than yours.
I'd use a drop checker and adjust the level that way bud.
from what I've been lead to believe when HC is in the right conditions it will grow smaller and more compact.
Might be worth planting it and leaving it to see if new growth matches your current growth.
I have these roots dropping from all my stem plants aswell bud.
I doubt there is any way to stop it happening however if anyone does know I'd be interested too lol
thanks for the help :)
I've got a planted 80lt at the moment with some pretty well established stuff including some dwarf grass and lots of egeria stems so I'll keep taking cuttings from them to propogate more until time to set the 300 comes round.
I thought nothing of it ordering the 300 but...

I was considdering sorting my scape before deciding on what plants to use then getting them all in a oner and spending a day planting.
I've since decided that I'll do the scape but am going to get the plants a few at a time and fill the gaps so...
I don't know about planting it in the pot as it may restrict the outward growth.
One thing I found is you cannot get away with planting HC in clumps as it will seperate and you will be constantly replanting it again and again.
The only way to really do it is to break it down into individual...
Boy did I learn not to be lazy!
I received 3 lovely pots of HC on Monday and after removing the wool I planted clumps of it around the front of the tank... Whoops!
Been chasing the clumps for the rest of the week trying to replant it every morning and again a tea time pmsl.
Had to bite the...
I made a big boo boo today, brought some tropical grasses home and decided to treat them for snails first.
I part filled a bowl with boiling water and salt then as I ran to check on what my little one was doing I asked my partner to top the rest up with cold.
She missheard me and filled the...
