    Fluval Plant 3.0 Hanging Height

i lowered mine down until there was no light spill on the wall. if you can get it down that far then light hitting the internal glass will mostly reflect back into the tank. At this point you are wasting about 25% of your light onto the wall and into the room.

    Light recommendation

i was looking at Chihiros for my 80cm tank too but the lengths of most things were up to 75, then 90+ etc. I ended up waiting the extra month and adding a little more for a Fluval planted 3.0 at £160 Sits nice and low to the tank but with a wide beam and really controllable.

How much lighting is too much lighting?

the second gives you options and futureproofing though ;) Imagine you decided to make it a reef tank at some point.... bingo, no need to upgrade! Simply remove the extra 2 or even 3 tubes. I work on the principle of having the biggest light unit and running it with as little bulbs as I can get...

I have just the solution for you! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT Open the celing fitting and remove the existing cable and fitting so you can refitt them when you move. Fit a longer cable with an e27 socket on the end and use on or more of these :) you like???

    lighting ebay on ebay?????

not seen the actual lighting unit in question before but I know all pond solutions are supposed to be decent enough quality for the price. They do a good 2000lt hr filter with built in UV too, my mate swears by his!

can i use a table lamp for a nano

I use a table lamp with a daylight bulb at the moment to suppliment my lighting on my 80lt. The bulb was £15 and is meant for reptiles etc but is fine for plants (6500k iirc) Will try and find a pic later, the bulbs are easy to find online!

    arcpod any good.

one of mines ice white and ones got a pinkey glow lol I got the first as a freebie, second I bought and third was freewith the tank. Not sure if I'd buy another simply due to the cost but they are pretty good for plants and look nice.

    arcpod any good.

I quite like the arc pods, got a 9w on the one in my study and 2 11w's on my 80lt in the livingroom. Only thing I've found is that even brand new the bulbs do not always render exactly the same colour so can look odd in pairs.

    Upgrading to T5's

Thank you for the advice guys :) I'm going to just replace the bulbs to begin with and see how I get on with just the T8's I may eventually replace these with T5's but will stay wary of over lighting it :)

    Upgrading to T5's

Cool. I have a regulator here from aqua essentials and will be getting an FE delivered before setting up. I think then I will start with the twin 30's, switch to twin 39's then eventually run all 4 for a period at the middle of the day.

    Upgrading to T5's

I just bought a used Aqua one which has 2 30w t8's :( its a 22inch high 300lt tank. Now I think I could just leave the T8's in place and add 2 39w T5's using a controller, would this be enough? this would bring my total to 138w I want to grow some forground stuff like HC and have already...

couldn't tell you to be honest! I've read that most marine aquariums get moon lit so I'm assuming that the fish there are fine with it. Will have to see I suppose!

Not sure how it would be to be honest bud. I've just ordered theses for my 4ft 300lt though, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aquarium-24-LED-L ... 255bd3753a it runs the full 4 ft and also with there being two I can just run one if I need to. I've ordered one adapter but might order a second one...

    Nano tank = Desk Lamp?

Thanks for posting this :) I went and grabbed my old desk lamp and checked the colour temp of the energy saving bulbs (2500k) so went and bought a 6200k bulb from my LFS! I'm now using it for extra lighting on my 80lt tank along with my new CO2 so should see my plant growth increase nicely...
