On edge of giving up Betta problem now

I'd second indian Almod leaves for their anti bacterial and anti fungal properties. They also help to soften the water with humic acids (tannins). Your water sounds like it's probably pretty hard water (normally high nitrate from the tap goes along with hard water from what I've seen so making...

    worms to maintain substrate?

thanks for the replies guys. My thoughts were that the waste and mulm may get mixed better into the substrate instead of building up at the surface and also may help in areas where there is little or no roots. Prob completely un nesscicary but I'd like to see if anyones done it!

    worms to maintain substrate?

As in title really, is there a worm you could use in a soil substrate in a tropical tank to aid maintaining/mixing the substate. Also maybe the odd one might make a nice meal for the fish lol

    Fish Gasping

ah right. you use the reagent added to 4dkh inside it to give it the colour etc. http://www.ukaps.org/drop-checker.htm it might be worth trying to get a hold of them to see if you can add some 4dkh to the order, http://www.aquaessentials.co.uk/ae-desi ... -3979.html this is the stuff I...

this is the sort of thing you are looking for, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Co2-Drop-Checker- ... 3a5eaae853 this is from hongkong thought so might take a week or so to arrive. Might be an idea to see who in the UK supplies them. Aqua essentials had sold out last time I checked but they might have...

    Fish Gasping

I've never seen them in my local P@H to be honest. I think its a bit too specialist for them! have you read the thread about testing CO2 without a drop checker? click new posts and it should be quite high up. you might be easier getting a PH testing kit and do it that way. I got glass...

    Fish Gasping

have you got an airstone? it should gas off quite quickly tbh. also you could get some surface agitation going to help remove it quicker. Actually thinking about it I'd change the water if it were me to be on the safe side!

    Fish Gasping

turn it off until you have a way to measure! Better that than gas your fish!

    fully stocked?

as a rough guide I use Aqadvisor, every tank is different though. I entered all the details for the tank and it came back with the following results, http://www.aqadvisor.com/AqAdvisor.php? ... ode=simple basically it thinks the tank is underfiltered for the stock at 90% filteration and is...

    Gutted, my Betta been naughty!

My missus just went into clean my office tank for me and my siamese fighter had a RCS in his mouth :( He's been really good up to now but I think he may have been eating the babies and got a taste for them. She's going to check if there are any adults left and move them to my main community...

Looking for shoaling fish that like water current

Got to agree on the danios, one of my purchases I would put back if I could! One of the most stunning shoaling fish I've seen are glass catfish. They really do look beautifull in numbers and are so peacefull. They also will love the flow, they will line themselves up with it and sit in the flow...

    Fish death survey

I lost a Danio to a fight establishing their pecking order and one of my Corys died suddenly at about 3 months old?!? Other than that I've been having a good year ;) If you count fry it may be another story as only one survived but I've not been trying to breed, just leave it to happen. Prob...
