will my hc cuba survive without co2?

well... I'm no expert but you could try cutting the lighting down while you haven't got the CO2 and stick with your easycarbo... thats what i'd do (as wearsbunnyslippers says it's working for them too). Cut the light to 6 hrs and I might even go for an experimental 50% water change everyday...

will my hc cuba survive without co2?

Is that the ET at the back? looking good! How long have you got the lights on? are you going to get another Co2 kit?... I don't know if it's a good idea but you could do water changes to increase the Co2??? anybody else think its a sensible idea? Chris

Getting the best from Java Fern?

Re: Getting the best from Jave Fern? I've found that with mine that too much flow is an issue... mine doesn't like being whipped about, so don't blast it directly. edit: i've got the broad leaf and narrow leaf. Chris

2nd attempt at HC. Advice on water perameters please

you seem to have everything covered, I would say keep the flow up as this is you nutrient (including co2) delivery method... obviously don't let it blast the plants out of the substrate, that would be bad  also I believe that HC likes Nitrate so might be worth adding extra. hard...

Sam... how hard is your water? i'm in suffolk and feels like we have the hardest water in the country  my water is 28.7 german hardnesses (from local water authority info) anyway I have been using a mix of RO and tap in my 125l tank because I was concerned about how hard my water is...

Will HC grow in hard water?

Hi Aaron, could you clarify your figures for me, I have water of 28 german hardness (which I think is essentially the same as general hardness according to wikipedia) which gives me in the region of 500ppm calcium carbonate, if Fishbeasts' water is 50GH i think that would give 892ppm which would...

Will HC grow in hard water?

I'm growing HC in my nano, with what I thought was hard water 28gh (according to the water supplier) :) I'm using easycarbo and no co2. it is slow going but looks good. as Fred said NO3 and co2 are important get the flow to the bottom, try your drop checker down by the hc and you could also...

    BBA overhaul on Anubias

the BBA turning red is a good sign... it is on the way out :)... A 50:50 mix sounds a bit strong. I've used a small splash of bleach in about 1.5l to remove BBA from pipe work. But if it works and the plants survive go with it. just don't leave them in too long. You need to fix the causes now...

How do you trim HC Cuba?

i've got a tiny net from LFS for 0.79p i think. might be worth a go i've tried to do it whilst syphoning... but I haven't got enough hand plus the syphon gets blocked easily. although with 12/16mm pipe it might work, but you would have to be quick. :D I'd like a solution to this, I'm hoping...
