    Metal Halide Distance and coverage

Oh I see. I ended up assuming it was 150W or 250W. Guessed 150W suspended 2 feet above the tank would do for me then! Cheers. Was just looking up different lighting system and tank unit in singapore and can't believe how much we pay through our nose for the same item here! I feel bad if I put up...

    Metal Halide Distance and coverage

Hmm. I'm assuming you are saying that the light wasn't enough for high light plants in this case then? I was thinking of 2 feet above the tank in a 45cm height tank and was hoping to grow HC, GE or pogostemon helferi in the foreground... Guess I might have to rethink that idea.

    Metal Halide Distance and coverage

What kind of plants can you grow with that level of light? Would it be sufficient to grow HC in a let say 2 feet deep tank?

    Metal Halide Distance and coverage

I was thinking about going into using one of those combination luminaire with 1 MH light and 2x T5HO light. However, as I'm intending to setup the unit in singapore, heating becomes a problem due to the temperature the unit produces. Can I use a 2 feet unit over a 3 feet tank but raise it up...

Disconnecting T5 lighting without removing bulbs

I normally just twist the bulb to disconnect it but leave the bulb in there without taking it out. Seemed to work ok with me.

    lighting for carpets

You have a 24" tall tank and you are using just about 1.3wpg lighting with T5HO. I have to blast my 50L tank with 48 watts T5HO to get them to grow horizontal. Why would you get algae outbreak if you increase your lighting? Even if you run all 4 tubes together, you are only getting just above...

    lighting for carpets

It's difficult for other to help if they don't know what exactly the specification of the tanks are. If the plants are not growing well then something somewhere must have gone wrong. So by knowing the spec and detail, the expert here might be able to shed more light into your situation.

    lighting for carpets

Tank size, Co2 regime, fertilisation scheme and substrate can be very important in trying to grow HC well. If you get the balance of the first 3 right, the subtrate won't be much of a problem.

I'm thinking it's the ballast as well but then the switch also connects to both tube... Well i think I might go ahead with changing the lamp holder and the ballast just to make sure that nothing is left out. I'll be very gutted if the problems lie in the switch. Thanks for all the support mate...

EQJ Trading light fitting needing repair. Advice needed.

I've bought an EQJ trading overtank luminaire 4x24w unit about 18 months ago and a few months ago, one of the tube failed to work and then following that now the other tube failed to work. Is this LED bulb suitable for aquatic plant growing

I've came across this table lamp (http://www.ryness.co.uk/ProductDetails. ... uctID=7172) and this lamp (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/5-x-60-LED-GU10-D ... 286.c0.m14) in my search for a small nano tank light probably for 30cm cube. I'm never good with electrical appliances and physics, hence I would...

72w lighting over a 24x12x12??!! Way over kill mate! I've done pretty much the same with my tank and I have 96w over 24x28x12 and ended up with a huge amount of algae. 2ft Over Tank Luminaire

The seller that I think you are referring to is EQJ Trading. I've got mine from them for 50 quid including changing the tubes and postage. Too bad the unit didn't come with a hingeable stand. You have to either push the unit backwards or totally remove it to access the tank. Dan

Lighting. Does wattage makes any difference to naked eye?

Well the Co2 was kept the same while I rescape. So I've got no idea why it starts growing upwards. If there is anything changes, that'll only be more light more CO2 and more fert. Yeah I have to agree that the specimen in that tank was brilliant. That was what I had in mind when I purchase the...

There you go a red didiplis diandra http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/foru ... orbert.jpg Mine rotala was meant to be rotala rotundifolia. Came to me red but now I've grown it green as if it's the rotundifolia green var. lol When I have the 48w over my tank, the HC was growing low and...

Lighting. Does wattage makes any difference to naked eye?

It doesn't really matter to me. Will do whatever it takes that is best for the plants. I just wanted to grow plants that looks compact and nice. My rotala and didiples diandra that was meant to be red hasn't shown any red since it's been in my tank. Think I've done everything right so far with...

Lighting. Does wattage makes any difference to naked eye?

I've just recently installed a whooping 96W over my 16 gallon tank! I was hoping that with intense CO2 and EI fertilisation, the plants will be pearling like mad but to my dissapointment I don't see any pearling besides CO2 bubbles from my diffuser. Now I'm trying another attempt to grow healthy...

    11" cube lighting

I see.... I should have done the same with my tank.... now I might need to get some CO2 kit for my tank and abandon the natural tank setup till I get the tank to mature.... why did I not thought of that? stupid me

    11" cube lighting

hmmm I thought you said you wanted to grow HC emersed? How do you inject CO2 in your water when your water column is most probably not going to be less than 1 cm tall?
  28. D

    Whats my WPG??

What's the height of the tank? If it's 18"-24" tall then I'm afraid that the light is not going to grow much plants besides java fern and anubias.or other low light plants. You will have difficulties growing more demanding plants.that requires higher light intensity.
  29. D

    Whats my WPG??

I think wpg does apply to bigger tank. 3wpg in a big tank and you would grow about everything. It doesn't really apply to nano tank as plants require a minimum light intensity to grow. For example, you have a 2 gallon tank and you stick a 9w lighting on the tank. theoretically speaking you will...
