i don't think it's hard to get them to spawn. I think the hardest part is to get them to feed after spawning. I had ketapang leaves in my tank and nothing but just otos. The water was brown coloured and they spawn. But despite having lots of areas to graze on for microfilm, my otos babies...
We used endler in the first picture as feeder fish in Malaysia. You can get them for less than 10p a cup packed full of them. chuck them in the tank with the arowana and you have you endless live food supply there. :P
Need to update my location. lol. I've now moved to manchester but I still travel to stoke from time to time. I've visited ripples a few times. The staff seemed to be pretty helpful.
AZ aquatic does have the biggest selection of freshwater fish in any of the local fish shop that i've seen. Will...
Wouldn't mind getting some of the scarlet badis myself. looks like a pretty interesting fish to keep. I've already got the perfect tank setup in mind.... just need a little more rrom in my house for another fish tank! Any idea when I can get this from?
Have anyone heard of this fish? According to the statistic they remained small at no more than 1 inch even at adult stage. Should make a lovely addition to the nano tank. would like to find out more about the parameter for this fish and their characteristic though. Internet have failed me on...
I've never feed my otos and I've got 6 in 60l tank. Fortunately the female is always laden with eggs and the male looks plumb and healthy too. guessed my tank is just filled with algae.
I had the same problem with ottos fry. I had about 20 of them and despite normal feed, fry feed, powder feed, algae feed, they still succumb. I could see them emaciating away prior to their doom though. I reckon it's the food and they are not eating
Well does anyone want to donate a large house for me so that i can house a large fish tank? I don't mind paying for the fish tank as long as someone pay for the house. lol
I've always been fascinated with arowana. They are just so majestic looking. The only thing that holds me back is the price that they are selling in this country. It's a ripped off... As I was surfing the net, I came across this webpage who claimed to be the sold supplier of arowana in the UK...
When I have sucessfully exterminated all my precious CRS even with RO water, my otocinclus has successfully bred in the same tank after neglecting it for 1 month! I thought it was some water flea initially till I look at it closer and the close resemblance to it parents and the style it sucks...
That looks 100% like snail eggs to me. It's definitely not shrimp eggs as shrimp tend to hold on to their eggs. and as clive mentioned, fish eggs tend to be scattered around randomly, not in clumps.
maybe if I keep it in a small tank it will remain small? lol
This is the algae that I'm trying to get rid of. and some green spot algae
was just randomly looking over the net for more information of plec in planted tank and I came across this beauty!!! Have a look at this video. Even a zebra...
yeah I was going to get nerite snails initially but couldn't get hold of them and ended up having some golden apple snail instead. They seemed to be eating something alright as their size has doubled over the last month or so. I've also got loads of unwanted snail that I assumed had came from...
hmmm if bristlenose if not a good idea what about clown plec or butterfly plec? I haven't seen a butterfly plec that is bigger than 3 inches and they seemed quite peaceful in a tank. Anyone have an experience with these? I'm just sick of scrapping green dust algae and green spot algae off my...
I have kept bristlenose plec in a big tank before with tough plant such as anubias and java fern and bolbitis. Now that I've start a small 16 gallon tank with plants with delicate leaves, I was just wondering if this fish would cause havoc in my tank? I just don't want to end up having them...
just out of curiosity how much do you guys pay for an otos normally? I used to get 10 for 10-12 quid. but then they usually come straight from the wholesaler and don't usually do well in my tank. I might end up with 6 of it after 2 weeks.
Eds, when you say this, do you actually mean that the otos breed in your tank or did you just get more otos?
The otos in my LFS is too expensive to purchase. The cost for otos in wholesale is no more than 50p each but they are retailing it at 4 quid each! They even sell 1" albino bristlenose...
