    4000 year old bogwood?

Heaven! Now if there's a rock quarry over the hills, you could really start a profitable business!

    Aquascaping infographic

Very nice infographic you can print and stick on your wall. The site also has more detailed information on iwagumi, NA, dutch and jungle styles. While I don't quite agree 100% with his definition of NA and jungle styles, they're still pretty good. Courtesy of: The Aquarium Guide

    Nordic Scapers Hardscape Challenge

Check out the results from the hardscape challenge: http://aquaa3.com.br/2015/12/1o-nordic-scapers-hardscape-contest-nshc-2015.html. Bear in mind that these are not supposed to be flooded or planted or maintained in any way shape or form

    IAPLC 2015

Congrats to all! Looks like the in-season vogue is the large-canyon or 2/3-massive-pillars type of scape, like positions 2, 5, 25, 41, etc. I thought there were supposed to be points deductions for dioramas. I still see a bunch of them in the top 127, or maybe I don't understand the meaning of...

    Maybe a software idea

There was one created some time ago. You could customise your tank size, select a few plants, a few different types of hardscape. I don't remember the link unfortunately. I tried to google it for 3 mins but couldn't find it anymore/

    Scaper's Day - Hungary

Great idea and great scapes. The community benefits from having these events and you benefit by having 3 gorgeous scapes in your studio. Ozzy's team takes the cake for me. Something unique and so well integrated.

Well that's art for you. Don't forget Amano himself started it first with mountainscapes. It's just evolved into what it is today.

    Advice on this hardscape please.

Will that work? Without good lights and CO2, I thought the transition will be harder. Some will melt and cannot be replaced with submersed growth without good lights and CO2. Most of the plants we get are emersed anyway, so transition is a problem for most of us. I would suggest just planting it...

    Advice on this hardscape please.

That's an interesting plant choice and its great to have it all growing somewhere ready to be transplanted. I personally don't know about playing stems on the top. There isn't any "mid-ground" to hide the ugly bottom parts and its not easy to maintain a nice shape by trimming it low all the...

    Advice on this hardscape please.

I think that looks good. The hill has a multi-layered look that will look nice with plants. The big peak right at top sticks out a bit too much at the moment, but should soften with planting.

New Aquascaping book by Oliver Knott and Chris Lukhaup

I got mine about two weeks ago. Even my wife was impressed that Oliver took the time to draw some cartoons on it! Even if he did spell my name wrongly LOL. I think I'd rather be Oliver than Amano any day. Oliver seems to be having so much more fun.

    Large rocks for large tanks

20 cents a pound is cheap. ADA Yamaya/Ryu are sold at something like US$5 per kilo where I'm from! Hard to find big cheap rocks.

Looks wonderful, just what I had in mind for my next tank though I can't source manzy wood. How are you filtering this beast?

    Let's talk aquascaping "the future"

This is a good discussion with many good points being brought up. None of them are right or wrong, just different opinions. I ask myself this question a lot when I'm planning a new scape too, and me being me, there isn't anything innovative that I can think of. Perhaps the next big thing will...

    breaking up dragon stone, how?

Usually people get blocks of styrofoam, shape them with a hobby knife, then either melt the surface (to get rid of the compressed balls look) or spray it with resin (not sure which). It is then spray-painted to look like rocks. I'm not sure why you'd wanna slap cement on them? It's not all...

Has anyone ever used Spaghetti rock?

It can be used, but you'll need to select plants and fish that tolerant to higher pH and kH levels.

    breaking up dragon stone, how?

I've broken some up before too. But my recommendation is not to hammer and chisel along the veins. This causes the dragon stone to break up into slate-like pieces, which isn't that nice for iwagumi layouts. OK if you wanna line some driftwood or sand/soil borders. I'd recommend bashing it at...

Has anyone ever used Spaghetti rock?

Do the vinegar test. Put a few drops of vinegar (synthetic ones are best) and bring it near your ears. If you can hear or see the rock fizzing, then it will increase your pH and possibly kH too. If that's so, then not best to use in a planted tank, especially a nano where the volume of water...

Fluo's scape is also my favourite. It's been my lab PC's wallpaper for 2 or 3 years now. After looking at gorgeous NA scapes all day, its refreshing to get into the lab and look at Fluo's. Ok ok I'm being a nerd here I know :geek:

For the first tank (Bubble's Aquarium?), it looks like you are analysing the reflections on the side panes of the tank? Oliver Knott did mention in the video that he scapes by feel and less by compositional rules

    'Scape in 60 minutes

Hi George, maybe you can make "Fast-food aquascapes" as part of your articles, because this one looks great. I am curious though, is the lighting enough for the Alternanthera reineckii to turn bright red? Thanks.
