I agree with this. For large public aquariums like these, I think its easier to create/maintain a biotope compared to a NA scape. I haven't personally done a biotope, but my impression is that biotopes are hard for a hobbyist because of the availability of critters and plants. Large public...
I think the tanks at Sumida Tokyo Tree require about 4-6 hours of maintenance every few days. This one will need to be closed every few days for maintenance... Maybe I'm just a bit jaded with the Amano design, it looks like every other big tank he's done. But geez... fish stocking options will...
That's the nature of artistic style contests. Panel of judges decided based on their own taste and preferences. Like Iron Chef :D Still, trying to get into the top 100 is an ambition for me. Does anyone have a link to all the potential winning scapes?
Here's mine, ranked 423. My best result yet!
I spent about 45 mins preparing the tank and lighting and camera equipment only to realise after that I left the top left side exposed! And I already put all the equipment back! The patches of moss below the stones were transplanted from my other...
I spent an hour cleaning up my tank for final shot, 30 mins setting up the camera and shooting around 10 shots fiddling about with the hairdryer and trying chase fish from side to side only to realise later that the white cardboard I used as a background didn't cover the left top corner! Already...
Thanks for the pics Juri! Those nanos are really nice, lots of never seen before scapes. And Oliver Knott creates another knockout (and definitely marmite) scape!
Ah hah! Dirty pipes on the left!! Just kidding guys... your shop is probably the best on the planet right now! Everyday I dream about running a place like this.
What a nice scape with the rocks too. Personally I wouldn't have raised the rock so it peaks above the waterline, it'd be lost in...
Re: XV-th Meeting of Water Plant Lovers Club in Wroclaw (Pol
That looks like a lotta fun. Megadeth tee + fish necktie + tank water is insane!!
But its way way way too far for me to go :|
Re: Live aquascapes at a London art gallery
I see that the Fluval G series filter is part of the aquascape and has to be placed outside the cabinet. The other brands must hide in cabinets
Re: Interzoo Report (New!!)
It's probably due to the maintenance. A low-turnover tank can be algae free if its maintained religiously on a daily basis. Maybe the lights don't even go on a timer... manually turned on and off everyday 8)
Hmm.. how about setting up a private forum where the only members who are allowed access are those who have submitted their entries? Email confirmation from IAPLC would be the proof. This way the full tank shots won't be freely available.
That 10-foot iwagumi has the best manicured lawn I have ever seen! Almost looks like a well-put-together desert or something (sorry, ran out of vocab here ) Graeme's cube has really come into its own, its really stunning!
No photos of Oliver Knott's tank? I'm really interested to know how...
