Interesting Ideas thanks guys. For this tank I really like the neodymium magnet suggestion, as its permanent and I can make them as strong as I want. I will remove the suction cups and glue the magnets in place. I will look on ebay for some magnets.

I successfully attached the panty hose, but since I was putting it around the outside of the whole filter (Which is square shaped and not a circle) I found it easier to do so with a very long twisty-tie. Is working great.

Bought some to protect my shrimplets from the various internal filter predators that I have. So, after I have finished playing dress-up, how should I put them on/in the filter to work? My filter looks like this;
