    Mixing glosso with HC

Thanks both. Photos below but not that helpful I'm afraid. Taken with my phone. MainFeb1 by hotweldfire, on Flickr MainFeb4 by hotweldfire, on Flickr FTSs. Both plants growing in front of manzi with F. fontanus on it. Both struggling to grow on the right side as you can see. Down to the...

    Mixing glosso with HC

Guys (and gals), any advice on how to make this look natural? TBH it's not glosso, it's Elatine hydropiper. Introduced it a couple of months ago to my main tank and it's gone mad. Is, in fact, threatening to take over the HC. Both are growing in front of a wall of dragon stone. But they look a...

    AGA 2011 results are out

Site's looking prettier this year. Shame it's also turned into the slowest website in the world at the same time.

    Hardscape combinations with Manzanita

I agree, I think the dragon stone can be a bit distracting and draws attention away from the wood which should be the star of the show. Don't regret using it but do find myself wanting to plant more on it than I had thought I would.

    Hardscape combinations with Manzanita

Have used it with dragon stone and I think it works quite well. Last page of second link in my sig.

What do you guys think of my hardscape?

The focal point is where all the branches emerge from. The problem is at the moment the focal point is in the centre of the tank. Use golden ratio. Put that focal point two thirds along the length of the tank rather than in the centre. Use your shorter pieces of wood pointing one side and the...

Let's talk: creating my next tank

What Stiphodons? I thought they were specialised algae eaters therefore shrimp safe

Let's talk: creating my next tank

Am attempting the same in my main tank mate. I do sometimes worry about big water changes and higher grade shrimp but I think the real killer is the co2. Got to be so careful and steady with it. Freshwater gobies (stiphodon) should be fine. Veggies I believe and will eat your algae. Very cute too.

    Cube Wars

As does tank 4 (also a Dennerle cube). Sort of the inspiration for my nano attempt. Seen it in real life and pics don't do it justice. Ben, liking what you're doing there. Look forward to that growing in. I'm still feeling uninspired though.

    Cube Wars

Mate, this is a very good idea. After realising that the rock in my P@H tank is problematic and deciding to rip it out I am well stuck for a design idea for the thing. Main tank (125l) I know exactly what I'm going for. Nano, I have no idea. In desperate need of inspiration.

I assume you're putting some sharks in there

    Let's talk aquascaping "the future"

Well said Rufus. After all, let's remember what the Japanese were doing with Nature Aquarium. They were copying their own natural landscapes and trying to recreate them in a glass cube. We could do worse than than doing the same. After all, our own natural landscapes are as beautiful.

    Inspirational wood-dominated aquascapes

These are probably my two all time fave scapes (wood or no). This one for the sheer skill of building that piece of wood: http://www.cau-aqua.net/index.php?option=com_zoom&Itemid=29&page=view&catid=258&PageNo=1&key=0&hit=1 and then this one...
