    Best T5's for planted tank

Hi clive, completely agree with what you have just said. Can i ask a simple question to you though. Colour becomes paler and the spectrum alters. Not irrelevant. But does par rating drop too? I know this still doesn't matter as if it did it would be such a slow process the plants of course would...

Lighting for a 30 liter Fluval Ebi,30cm deep

Yes exactly mate. You have a huge range of options with desk lamps. Some people don't like them but i personally do because of the choice of power an type of bulb. You can't really have that range of flexibility with any other light units. If you got a cheap ikea lamp or argos lamp you can buy...

Lets get the 6500k debate going again then

I would like to know what brings out more reds in plants and fish, as I'm planning on chilli rasbora and want their colours to be vibrant and strong. Maybe I'll opt for a lower range of Kelvins Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2

Is indirect natural light part of my photoperiod?

If its a dry start method aim for about 12 hours, could even up it to about 16 if you could deal with the light being on that time. Don't bother with the break in the photo period. As ceg would say.. Say hasta la vista to the siesta :-) Cheers! Jack :-)

    Cheap Lighting ideas?

Can Anyone on this forum say they are qualified to correct this discussion? I think there are a few people including me that would like to know the correct information. Obviously 2 very strong arguments here that can be confusing for an LED beginner such as my self! :-) Sent from my GT-I9100...

New Setup > Lighting help please!

@ hensintheshed, I have to agree with fox on this, your sugestion of 2x24w t5's is a good choice, I think any more would be too much for the size you have. Congrats on not over powering the tank! I run 1x24w t5 over a 90x30x30 tank and do just fine. :-) if u decide u need more at a later date u...

help please lighting a 2 ft cube

TBH buddy I would forget kelvins altogether unless this is the particular brightness your going for.. just find out your par readings. help please lighting a 2 ft cube

No mate im not, although it was a heavy one. ;) you can essentially grow plants using green, red, blue, what ever you want. The output looks nothing like daylight but they grow plants due to the spectrum they have. So kelvin isnt as important as such, it may well give you a better par...

help please lighting a 2 ft cube

Really hate to say this Danny but Kelvins have nothing to do with plant growth mate. These are solely to measure brightness of bulbs. Forget how much kelvins a light unit has. Its unfortunate that this information gets into the wrong hands. You can grow plants under anything. Colour is also a...

    UP PRO-L 45cm

my mate bought the 25cm single leg version and its very good, it covers his whole 300mm cube really nicely, very nice white too. He had to change his 18w arc pod to the 25cm UP single leg and it does a wicked job. So I assume it will be ok.. your tank is 50cm though and your light will only be...

I do not have the new model that u found but the old model. They have done me wonders on a 3x1x1 ft tank. I had to take a bulb out but this was due to my own preference and growing style. Overall I imagine the newer model is just as good :-) Sent from my S2 using Tapatalk 2

agreed. I have 4 walstad tanks all about 5-6 months old. One is a jungle nano. I have the link below in my signature. I have an 11w cool white bulb that does just fine. 15w sounds fine, you wont even need to spend the money on a tropical daylight bulb, literally any bulb will do. the higher the...

Is a 90cm light unit enough for 100cm tank

As for height, only u can determine that by the overall outcome of the tank. As said above, best to suspend it so height can be altered if needed. Mine is not suspended so I took a t5 bulb out to reduce lighting. Jack Sent from my Nexus 7
