tap water was 0's across the board, which is normal for my tap water

Right I made up a solution of 500ml of tap water with 6 grams of the Potassium Nitrate. There was a slight tinge to the ammonia test reading 0.25 or this could have also been the light in the house, nitrate reading was 20!

yeah, will try that, I have found the company that makes it, but cannot get on their website, so I have emailed the people I bought it from to see if they can provide the MSDS as they have re packaged the product I thought they should provide something like that or at least a ingredient list on...

Just wanted to check TBH ceg, it came in a poly bag so no info on it what so ever, will try and get in touch with the people that sent it, but they are pretty useless TBH, took 4 weeks for them to send it, then it ends up being the wrong stuff :twisted:

Soluble Angus Fertlizers, Potassium Nitrate??? I got sent this by mistake, looks like little brownish pellets, just wondering if it would be safe for aquatic use, I assume it will be, would the dosing be the same as powdered PN??

Does adding boiling water to my dry ferts mix have any adverse effects like rendering the ingredients useless? Would boiled cool water be better? Cheers JOHNNY

Perfect Paulo, just what I wanted, just wanted to make sure it was ok to do :mrgreen: Garuf, I'm only wanting to mix(with the right ratio's) and store like this, then make a normal mix up as I normally would(in water), so there would be no uncertainty of the levels dosed. JOHNNY

I have used both on my 9 tanks, I have found no difference whatsoever between them, seem to work exactly the same :D Using easycarbo exclusively now, as I can get it for a more reasonable price than excel JOHNNY

I'm currently dosing potassium nitrate(other stuff as well) I was wondering, if the API test kit measures the amount of potassium nitrate any differently to the nitrates produced by the nitrogen cycle. anyone know? and if it is different, how(if I wanted too) would I test for the potassium...

I dose 8 of my tanks with it, not noticed any cloudy water, I have noticed it go cloudy with the ferts mix that I use but clears after 10mins or so JOHNNY

I have been using the stuff from garden direct, no problems here. as for copper in the Trace, I have only seen trace with copper in, I have inverts in many of my tanks that I dose with in and haven't had any problems with it JOHNNY

I do a 25% on all tanks every 7 days or so, depending on work JOHNNY

I bought a 500g bag but i dose 8 tanks a day, 1 500ml mix lsts me about a week at the moment so 200g will last a while JOHNNY

I dose 20ml on a 90ltr so sounds about right, try and see how it goes, if the plants look like they need more, give it to them JOHNNY

I was given this link by a friend of mine.. HERE They sell potassium nitrate and potassium sulphate and a trace mix. forgot to order the trace mix but I bought the the other two. Been dosing them for two weeks now, with the GH booster and Trace from AE. No problems so far! JOHNNY

At the moment I have not upgraded my lights to the 48w twin tubes, I'm going to carry on using the single 24w lamp see how things go with just the ferts. how much seachem excel should I dosing with with ferts? not going to go down the co2 route at the moment. And as for mixing the ferts do they...

Right, have ordered, potassium Nitrate, Potassium Phosphate, GH booster an d CSM+B trace. so I will dose 40ml of the first 3, 3x a week and the trace 3x a week on the days not using the other stuff, right? and 1 day off? should that be my water change day? usually a sunday. Cheers JOHNNY

Thats great, starting to get a handle on this now :shock: So basically chuck everything in and mix with tap water (bar trace) and dose Tank is 18gal(uk) so the daily 17ml will still apply? Which of the dry ferts would you recommend from aquaessensials? Cheers JOHNNY

Thanks for the replies, not using RO water its that low a kH straight out the tap!! Are there any guides to use the dry ferts? never used them only the liquid ones below. Will look at co2 but everything I read sems to say the same think, don't add it with such a low kH. will see on that one :D...
