This is what I don't get, CO2 is good, 15x turnover for flow, good ferts in high doses, don't undersand why its melting. :cry:

Following Matts advice with the daily water changes, all mosses have pretty much doubled in size, so I'm pretty happy with the results :D

Thanks again Matt I have both the new fissidens in a shallow dish with a little water, so will see how they grow :) I have started to separate the weeping moss out (good from bad) not much of the good left, have kept the bad in the hope I can coax a little more out of it. Do you have any link...

Nice list! So the Fissidens splachnobryoides is best grown in something shallow so it out of the water right? What about the zip, is that ok in the tank or should I go shallow for a while?

I bought a few of these Echinodorus from P@H, they have new plants now(stopped selling Tropica :evil: ) been planted a few weeks now and as you see from the picture they have a few lines where they seem to be breaking down, is this a deficiency of some kind or just the leaves changing to be...

Simple question, after seeing some lilys flower.... I'm led to wondering how a plant "knows" when to flower in an aquarium? after all it's a climate controlled environment, about as unnatural as you can get, and the only way you can have seasonality in the tank is if you control it yourself...

I will be sorting this out soon :D going to go with a pond compost and sand to grow them on in, nice and nutritious for them. No I want to be doing as little as possible with the tank as regards to dosing ferts, can I add just once a week? in dry salt form instead of already prepared mixes...

Yes thats another possible solution, I have a ton of old Tropica pots I can use too, will need to work out what the cheapest way to fill them is, I'm thinking pond compost atm JOHNNY

Hi have a spare AquaOne AR620, sat doing nothing in the garage, I'm thinking of setting it up to hold and grow on the many plants and cuttings I take, now, it has a built in trickle filter and I will add some powerheads for flow, lighting is built in PC, not sure of the size but there won't be...

just an update on this, I took out the root this fern was attached too and found the rhizome was pretty much dead except a couple of place, no idea what happened, very confused? trimmed right back and hopefully it will grow to its former glory :) JOHNNY

If you do want to bleach dip( as pointed out this can damage some plants) use a 5% solution of bleach, dip for a couple of mins, then have a bucket of water with 3x normal dose of de-clorinator, rinse in this for a few mins then into a normal bath of water, job done. I have done this way and PP...

Well just to update, all the Valiis including some nana all melted, died and didn't come back, as to whether it was the easycarbo or my soft water I'll never know, but a combination of the two isn't a good mix :shock:

I got a small portion of this at the beginning of the year, its was doing really well in my Apisto tank, even took several cuttings from it. I noticed recently that some of the outer most leaves are turning black :shock: not happy, lighting is 2x24w over a 30x12x18" tank, easycarbo everyday...

I bought a few of these from AE when they were first released, really like the plant, I didn't do much with it beside breakdown into 3 pieced and stick in the sand, is there a better way of planting it? I'm thinking of using it as a foreground plant instead of Glosso so I dont have to add...

Thanks for the replies, I have put some vallis(twisted and straight) into 3 tanks, a 180ltr, 25ltr and a 80ltr, the ones in the 180 and 25 are doing ok, no melt, the ones in the 80 are melting big time, making a real mess :( should I leave them in or take them out, any chance they may recover...
