    Restarting aquarium, need advice

Here is the tank from a year ago, the crypts from the back have pretty much taken over. Im not sure if the akadama is suitable for any carpeting plants. I have some posmegon hefferi from another tank i might shove in . I have a little Brazilian chain sword that might work well at the front. Im...

    Restarting aquarium, need advice

I've moved house, and while I was waiting for my new place to come through my cousin kindly gave me a place in her house for them to live. Sadly she's not a fish person so what she said were "1 or 2 dead" turned out to be 0 alive and guppie soup. Thankfully most the celestial daneo's in my 130L...

    Plague of snails!!!

Its highly recommended that they be the only species of fish occupying the water column. They are renowned for nipping at the fins of most fish - and they are pretty small so they make a tasty treat for anything with a mouth big enough to accommodate them. The fact is each puffer needs its own...

My dwarf puffers have decided to start killing the cherry shrimp in their tank :'( Lucky they were all the low grade rejects i moved out the breeding colony. We knew this day would come.

Why are there no "monster" planted tanks ?

also consider lighting for a massive planted tank. the higher the water column the more lighting intensity required for plants to thrive. Apart from the electricity cost, thats a massive amount of heat to dissipate.

white slime on redmoor new photo , this is extreme !

I really wouldn't worry about it. But if it does bother you - take it out an soak it in a bucket for a week.

white slime on redmoor new photo , this is extreme !

Its normal, it goes down after a few weeks. My ottos and shrimp loved eating it. You often get a bacterial bloom (not amonia related) a few days after putting the wood in quite often.

    Fluval Ebi Suggestions

I still havent decided. Ive got a custom CO2 reactor+diffuser i took out my shrimp tank that i might put in there to help the plants establish - but i might kill it once I add the livestock. Ive put 2 bits of driftwood in that I've tied some bobilis difformis shoots from a plant in my main...

    Fluval Ebi Suggestions

Hey all I recently bought a Fluval Ebi for rather cheap and i was wonder what planting suggestions people had for plants and hardscape. I think I'm going to try and have the substrate sloped - going to see what MAs in west london have in stock. Not sure if i should go for soil or get some...

    leggy stem plants

I've got a DIY Yeast CO2 reactor with a ceramic fluval diffuser positioned underneath the spray bar, and i dose with Ferepol every now and then. It took a while for the plant to get to that stage, lots of cutting it in half and replanting.

How much time do people spend actually watching their tanks?

Re: How much time do people spend actually watching their ta My desk looked like this at one point: The tanks are side by side now. I have my 120L on the chest of draws in my bedroom. Its nice to watch when I'm in bed - but i really have to sort out a remote control for the lighting. I...

    leggy stem plants

Its probably light. You'll find the plants get bushier the closer they get to the light after a while. Try adding some reflectors if you don't already have them, they've worked wonders in my 2x18w setup. Also remember that the edge of the tank gets less light than the middle.I would chop them in...

    Whos going to aquatics live?

I tried to ask Chris "Metal God" Lukhaup some stuff about shrimp. I was asking him about water conditions for crystal shrimp and was remarking how london tapwater comes out 40ppm nitrates and he said that was perfect and its rainwater level. He then remarked how his english wasnt great and...
