I was looking at getting one a while back and of the reviews on amazon, half of them said the thermostat went after 12 months. I think its sadly just a design flaw - lucky for you its still under warrantee. :)
oodles of noodles.
Premium Ceramic Bio Rings - Filter Media For Aquariums 1000g - 1 KG | eBay
I orderd a load of these for the 4(!) trays that came with carbon on my 406. Its highly porous, much better than the solid stuff that comes as stock. Its like the premium "BioMax" stuff fluval sell.
nice find, sadly they dont have them in store at any of their shops :'(
I messaged the ebay vendor and he said that he should have some more back in stock next week, so i think i can wait :)
I find the airlocking happens on all of them with the fluval hoses as the ribbing can catch a lot of air bubbles. I've acutally started using a power head to prime the filter and it gets it going in no time.
Anyhoo, ive seen the 406s being sold for £118 inc delivery online and im sorely tempted.
I'm considering getting a fluval 406 for my 130L tank that currently has a 205 attached to it.
The growth on the side of the tank where the spraybar comes in is noticably lusher, and I swear that im getting localised amonia spikes in the areas of planting thats too dense for the flow rate at...
the area of the holes is greater than the area of the cross section of the spraybar then the outflow will be slower than the flow entering the pipe.
The volume of water passing out the holes in the spray bar will be the same.
So if you want fast flow (ie strong spraybar jets) you want few...
if
(number of holes * surface area of holes) > area of the cross section of the pipe
then your flow is going to be slower. (ie it will exit the bar at a slower speed than it enters at the end)
I too have a Eheim 2213 with an unfixable buzz in the head unit. Sounds like an air pump :(
I currently have it under 3 towels and it still makes a racket.
High flow rate, and then just shove a sponge and lots of biomax/rings in the canister. Don't use carbon unless you've boo booed with over dosing - you'd be paying to take stuff out you paid to put in.
These people are the cheapest I've found:
Clear Plastic Acrylic Perspex Tube
£10 delivery but about £1.50 a meter. So its almost worth just ordering 8 meters of it to justify the delivery costs :D
My new Eheim 2213 is making an incredibly annoying noise. This isn't trapped air, or rattling impeller shaft. This is a strong vibration. It sounds akin to having a air pump on constantly and its driving me nuts. If you push down on the lid it lessens it slightly, but only slightly and thats not...
I like the Tetra ex400. Got one on my 50l shrimp tank. Mine runs whisper quiet as well.
-water flow: 400 l/h
-max. Pump height: 0.6 m
-filter capacity: 3.2 l
-for aquaria: 10 - 80 litres content
-power consumption: 230V/50 Hz 6.4 W
-dimensions: 21 x 20,5 x 26 cm (lenghtx width x height)
-3...
After looking arround a bit, i think the eheim ones use 13mm with a 1.5mm wall. Ive ordered an 8mm bending spring. Finding the acrylic is proving harder then i thought :'(
I don't really want to pay £10 postage for a £3 item :( Its tempting to order 10m of it and make a load and try and sell...
Cool, but thats per pipe. Plus HMCR are pretty zealous now about intercepting packages at customs now. And for some reason Royal Mail think its OK to add £8 on top of the vat for delivering your mail. You can ask they send it with gift on the customs form - but it doesn't always work...
Awesome, Ive ordered myself a spring.
Im not sure what wall thickness eheim use on their 12mm diameter pipework to fit 12/16 hose. Ive trie measuring it with the crappy pastic ruler i have and it seems to be thicker than 1mm but the internal diameter seems closer to 10mm  I've found a...
I am seriously debating buying some Perspex tubing and trying to bend my own. Surely it can't be that hard. Fill the tube with sand or salt. Gently heat the desired area and bend. To make the conical opening heat an area and pump air in slowly so it forms a bubble then saw it in half when cooled...
The 2213 came today and i installed it in the tank. Turns out it came with double taps after all so that was £20 wasted :(
Installed it using the Fluval Ebi's stock spraybar.
I posted pics on the journal: 30L Fluval Ebi | UK Aquatic Plant Society
Im quite tempted to get some glass ones but i know that ill wind up breaking them sooner rather than later. I haven't seen any steel ones on ebay - not sure where to order them from - sounds quite cool. The only downside i can see with these custom lily pipes is the holes on the inlets aren't...
hehe, yeh they are darty littly buggers. Not at bad as my ottos tho who i can hear bouncing off the lid in my big tank all the time.
I saw some Clown Kilifish today. I almost bought them on the spot. Then restrained myself. I suppose i could always put the NGRs in the 130L with all the other...
I've got myself a 30L Fluval ebi.
Its a nice tank (yay glass) but the stock filter defiantly makes a racket - and takes up precious space.
Im thinking of either getting a Boyu EF-05 or using the Eheim Classic 2213 that i have coming tomorrow that i bought because i really couldn't turn it...
