Id be happy to use lava rock but I cant find it in a garden centre here :(
I like the idea of dragon/ohko stone in my tank but its flippin expensive. Cheaper alternatives at the minute are paddlestones, limestone (free) or river boulders.
not entirelt sure what look im going forso I can have a go with any rock at this stage.
The limestone is ok but very 'white' and...
My local garden centre sells 'Derbyshire stone' which resembles ada mini's, but big :)
If its not the same, it looks farily similar, £3 each for some 15kg rocks aint bad going? :lol:
I recently came back of a trip to the peak district and whilst i was there i collected a bin bag full of dead heather :mrgreen:
I keep reading about 'heater wood' being safe..... Is this the case and are we on about the same thing?

i want to add a huge amount of slate to my tank, providing plenty of caves and retreats,
its 600l aprox, and i want to add maybe 30 pieces of LARGE slate, so about £100 worth but i dont want to crack the base, and ideas if it will work ok?
i have got a nice bit of oak that i have stripped down, it was hanging in a tree but it had broken off (tangled up)
i have stripped it down and soaked it, is it ok to use? no signs of rot or anything.
its nice, but to me, it looks a little bit to 'placed', none of the decor is touching, not very natural imo, but it could look nice once the spaces fill out with a nice carpet.

i was faffing around today and ive decided on a double island arangement, seeing as the tank is fairly narrow, one island looked out of praportion :(
need to figure out how to do it without focal points clashing though.

it only has a deposit down but im friends with the owner so he let me try out some scapes when i went to help him move tanks in.
