    Silicate - Brown Algae

My shrimp tank using ro water, active subastrate and wood decor (no silicates) also had a diatom stage so i wouldnt be concerned about the silicates

    Hair Algea

I feel the pain. Im nearing the end of a long battle with algae. Ive been through diatoms which where a doddle, green algae which was a doddle and im not onto staghorn which is getting better :) I think the problem is having slow growers in a tank that gets direct sunlight for a few hours a day...

Wht dont you turn one over and attach it to the underside of one of the tubes? :)

    Is this GDA?

Id remove the reflectors and only use a songle light until it clears. Reduce the light and remove it and see if the algae stops. I had a small problem with high light that I thought was quite low and turning off one of the units fixed my problem :)

    Things going bad

Id reduce the lighting if at all possible. Id also suggest that liquid carbon will not change the ph like co2 will so its an unnecessary taak to measure it in this case.

    Removing old bba

As a follow up to this i removed the fissidens and riccardia to an emersed pot (growing much better) and brushed the leaves of my bolbitis with a tooth brush and am now algae free :) Another issue i noticed is because of the harsh s bend to get the pipework out of the cabinet the hoses where...

    cyanobacteria & purmycin

Id personally not add permucin based on the fact it may or may not upset the balance in the tank. Part of the diet of your shrimps will contain bacteria that will also be affected by this method of treatment. Your tank will not suffer from performing a blackout at all. Id recomend you syphon as...

    Removing old bba

I think i already know the answer to this but i thought id check :) I have a small ammount of bba on some java moss, the only place i have it in the tank. This was down to me being slack on ferts, having too much light and the aquarium too hot ( moss suffering from the temperature) The bba...

    Diatoms problem

How deep is the tank? The arcadia stretch leds ar deceprively bright. I thought mine wasnt bright enough so i bought another equivilent product to add and it was far too much for my needs.

algae outbreak in new 5ft planted

Agree with with Ceg, the quantity of copper you are likeley to encounter in a trace mix will have little impact on amano shrimps unless you are dumping your whole supply in at once and even then id very much doubt it. The copper content of your tapwater is likely to be as high as the percentages...
