    Bucephalandra family experts? (Emersed growth)

The biggest problem you will have is fungal growth. You can periodically flood and drain to halt it. Extremely easy to keep this way. Don't require additional light other than ambient room light and i misted every 6-8 weeks. They don't enjoy constantly wet leaves when emersed. Soil can be damp...

    Emersed Bucephalandra experiment

Yeh humidity. Grows well emersed planted into moss or aquasoil (even play sand). I don't mist them at all now and they grow nice coloured leaves contrary to popular belief. I'm going try letting some grow out of the water on their own in a tank and see if they adapt better

    Dry start Bubble

Hair grass is native to the UK so humidity and temp won't be an issue

    Emersed Bucephalandra experiment

Dean that's correct. Even of they are available to collect they are left in favour of the emergent plants as they are easier to ship :)

    Emersed Bucephalandra experiment

They definitely look nicer grown submerged. It's not practical for me to collect them and keep them all submerged though :( Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Emersed Bucephalandra experiment

Not a clue. Would make it easier to collect if they can be kept like this. My seller seems to think it will work :) Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk

    Emersed Bucephalandra experiment

Just a little experiment to see how emersed bucephalandra 'ghost' will do uncovered at room humidity. Roots and rhizome are in moss as it will wick the water nicely if I forget to top it up for a day or two. I already know they do well with no heating, I've had them down to 12'c with no issues...

    Fissidens Fontanus Dry Start

The 'pellia' we have in our tanks isnt actually a pellia species. Pellia epiphyla (spelling?) is a true pellia that can be found submerged in nature :)

    Fissidens Fontanus Dry Start

    F. Fontanus doesnt need to be kept humid to grow. For anyone not aware it is a native moss of the UK (along with 7-8 other fissidens sp.) so it will survive and grow as long as you keep it damp or grow it on something damp. You can also let it dry out 100% and re-animate it and it will act like...

Just setting up my paladaruim (spelling) :) Using a hm filter that runs 3/4 of the way up the tank, sunk into this will be a finer sponge and that will be topped of witha clay substrate (cat litter). I want to grow some hc, pellia and a nice big sword on the filter, not sure what to have as a...

Using moss as substrate for floating island

Dilute it a lot, then use a spray bottle to dose it ;) So, a tanks dosage worth in a spray bottlee, then mix with about half a sprayer full of water. It can melt mosses if used at to high of a concentration.

How fast does your HC grow emersed?

Ive had very nice slow growth when kept on very slightly damp sand and filter mulm covered over permanently for a long period. Ive had faster but not so lush growth when ive grown it in a couple of milimeters of water on sand dosed with tomato ferts.

    Attempt at an emersed scape

I thought id have a crack at making an emersed scape..... it will be permanently without water (apart from the damp substrate) so it should be fun and a bit different :) It will be of the iwagumi style ........ not much to say about it yet.... currently cleaning the tank (18x12x16 clearseal...

    uncomplicated way to propogate hc.

I also have a propogator that im going to use once the jar fills up :D mosses also do well like this ;)

    uncomplicated way to propogate hc.

My method for propogating hc is to use a small clear container with potting soil and keep the soil damp but not wet as such. Open the lid every now and then to let air in and be patient. not a very high tech aproach but my portion has doubled in size in about 2 weeks so it cant eb that bad :)...
