hello any suggestion on decent hob filter for a desktop tank (just bought one of the EA300hd cubes and need a decent quiet hob filter to go with it. It will be a shrimp only tank but do want decent over filtering. I know there is the eheim liberty are they any good and any ideas on UK sourcing?

Yes isn't below water line as I'd turned off pump, it was 80% below waterline before hand however appears most salty tanks on YouTube run the same way.

Side of tank shows drain Drain from front Which drains into the sump. It falls in and isn't drawn in so its syphoned out.

Will try and do tomorrow, too late to be faffing with hosting pics. There is a pipe from the back of the tank into the sump and then a pipe back into the tank from the pump...

Cool thanks, anyone any idea what the logic is behind making the hole, I assume it reduces pressure and allows air to flow into pipe further down the stack and therefore removes sucking air from top of tank. I assume water won't flow out of the hole?

Yep good point, where the water comes out of the tank and back into the sump there is a pipe that takes the overflow out. The noise is from there. If I pull the return pipe out the sump it goes quiet ( except for the noise of the water hitting the sump surface) I am assuming it's air sucking in...

+1 on jbl. Had eheim before then mistake of an aps 1400. I run a jbl 1501 on a 150l tank at the mo and it's just great. Silent, powerful and reminds me of the old German built eheims. The jbl will be going on the tmc 60*45*45 that's arriving on 27th. :)

Did you take out any sponge before doing so? Mine is full of sponge in all compartments except the bottom most which has ceramic tubes.

Possible o-ring issue? but johnallen will advise, don't go any further with strip down in case it invalidates the warranty. Have your serial number to hand when you contact them, they can advise quickly on warranty position with this info.
