    K1 filter media

As above I used to use it in my sump when I had a fish room, imo its not all its cracked up to be, and at times can be a right pain in the rear, you have to ensure it stays fluidized other wise it gets gunked up in no time I ended up changing over to good old cheap pot scrubbers, alot cheaper...

    Can Koralias be adjusted?

Interesting post tim, I guess by doing regular water changes your keeping co2 levels up and when you let them slip co2 levels get chance to fluctuate so algae kicks in, Its definitely good to see people maintenance on low techs especially as im strting one soon :)

    Can Koralias be adjusted?

Is it a low tech tank ?
  11. sa80mark

    Can Koralias be adjusted?

As tim said there not adjustable, in the true sense of the word but theres ways to slow the flow such as using tights etc over the unit to diffuse the flow, having owned and used a few 900's I dont think they will offer much flow in your tank imo there just about powerful enough for a 60l so id...

    Dirty Pipes!

There is something to the claims they make but I think its down to the darker colour letting less light in, ive got a bit of mix and match pipe on the outlet of my filter grey/black from filter to diffuser then clear from diffuser to tank and there is definitely more algae ? Growth in the clear...

    Stainless Lilly Pipes

    Stainless Lilly Pipes

From what Ive found out the bending isnt very difficult the problem is not ruining the finish on the stainless steel if you ruin it its near impossible to get back
  16. sa80mark

    Stainless Lilly Pipes

Ive been looking into making my own for my latest tank, a bending spring is never going to work with stainless steel its just to hard, the plumbers benders would work but not many are able to do 180 degree bends and the ones that can have a large internal radius so the gap between the 2 pipes...

    Re-using old filter media?

Ive reused filter media for years with no issues, if its ceramic type I boil it for a few minutes no idea if this would really kill any badies but it gives me peace of mind :) you could always use 50/50 water bleach mix and soak it over night then rinse and keep rinsing until the bleach smell...

    Flow.....

Co2 and flow is critical in my first 30l scape I had algae problems that was down to poor flow in areas of the tank even though im running a 1000lph filter, now on my second scape ive sorted theres issues out and all is good so far, Its been discussed before about how these display tanks run...

    Plumbing Query re RO Housing

Yes thats how I did mine although I did install an isolation tap between this and the ro filter mostly for ease incase I wanted to remove it for any reason, flow rate is entirely dependent on your water pressure, if pressure is low you may need to install a booster pump between the fitting and...

    Nice Looking Power Head?

Depends on the size of your tank but for me there all ugly so if it were me I would go for one of those eheim surface skimmer that way you get the extra flow but you also get the added benefit of surface skimming

I am a big fan of the fluval filters id go for a fluval 406 if memory serves me right there rated around 1400lph but have a flow control so would give you plenty of adjustment other than that theres plenty of eheim that are very well regarded I suppose most of the choice comes down to budget but...

All filters will lose flow with head height media etc all being factors if your set on the 10x rule id be looking a aroung 1200lph this might give you 800lph after flow restrictions other than that look at using a power head to supplement your flow Mark

Eheim "ecco Pro" vs "Professional 3"

I used to have 3 eheim ecco pros on breeding tanks I had a 200 and 2 300 and from my point of view I never really liked them I feel the amount of media you can fit in is limited and the flow rates are way off I still have a 300 and really wouldn't use it on anything over 75l another thing I...
