i believe that TMC have used better light diffusers now so the light looks nice and even spread. we have the arcadia where i work as we are having as whole new system set up with about 80 3ft tanks in. the arcadia rep sent us one and it doesnt touch a T5 or T8. i can get you guys some pictures...
i have also seen these in person. i am not impressed ether. know where near as good as the TMC ones. the ripple effect you get from the TMC ones is as good as a MH. i have seen the tube ones and the tile, i prefer the tube one :D
for some reason arcadia used the same amount of white red and...
i used one of these on a 8l nano it was quite a good light. quite bright for 9w :D
heres the tank

i have 150w over a 80l so i guess its not too bad in comparison.
i would sort out the current algae issue first as the light will just make it take over.
there is no right height for them which is partly why they are so good. if you get algae put it higher and lower when you want.
i would start at about 50cm and go from there
will do  my journal is called nature scape v2 i am struggling to get decent pics at the moment but i will keep it on the same settings for both pics so you get an idea. my current bulb is a marine one about 14,000k i think so it will be quite a difference
i just bought on myself. they sent the wrong one though so it will be swapped soon. ill tell you when i get it, ill put a pic on my journal anyway. :D
viktor has used the same 5200k bulbs on big tank. but they are T5. i guess they will be a similar colour.
i am looking to buy a halide for my tank and came across the arcadia classica
had anyone had any expierience with thislight or know anyone who has?
i have not seen anyone use one before. they are cheap to at £120 for the single 150w HQI freshwater :D
sweet light mate.
i was put off these due to the high power consumption but i worked it out on an internet calculator and its about £5 a month to run so thats nothing.
looking at the great success mark had with his i am going to save up for one. not to say that marks light did it all. far...
having it hight will reduce the light into the tank yes. if you dose higher and have a higher co2 level in the tank then it should not cause much of a problem. althought it will cause more maintanance
i would personaly go with a HM if i has the choice as they look nice, compact and give great results (judging by saintlys tank) but the only problem for me is that i dont pay the electricity bill
im thinking of doing EI too but havent yet i just use the TPN+. i think an easy thread to understand about EI was the one by plantbrain at the top of the fert dosing page.
i think your hc will deffinetly benefit from dosing fert though
it all depends on what plants you are planning to use, if you are going to do a tank with moss and ferns then that would be ok but if you want to use carpet plants and stems then you may want more
i have just setup a new aquaone 320 and want to fit another 11w light in the hood i thought arcadia would do the starter units for 11w t5s but they dont and i cant find one anywhere the cheap imports for hongkong arnt waterproof althought i could enclose it but am worried about condensation any1...
