    Jungle Style at 28C

25c is fine, more needed for breeding, but I keep Boesmani with the themostat set at 22, although the water is often a degree or two higher. My oldest Boesmani fish are now 10 years old.

Plants that will survive clown loach curiosity

I realise this is an old post, but the only thing I hate about clown loaches is not being able to keep them long term in a planted aqaurium. I have never seen a group of mature clown loach in an "unmolested" planted aquarium. I spoke with the partner of Emma Turner before, a lady who has a large...

    I'd this cryptocoryne?

I read usteriana has red underside to the leaves whereas aponogetifolia is all green. Any idea where I could buy either?

    Echinodorus Angustifolia

Not over here in Europe, well the Vesuvius form is common, but not the straight type that is common in USA. I have not tried it unfortunately.

    which Bucephalandra?

I have several types of Bucephalandra and if there is anything that I have learned is that currently the naming system is anything but well defined. Its seems most are just variants of a few species, but that may well prove wrong when taxonomists get round to properly identifying them all. There...

    Bucephalandra

There are so many, but Melawi and Sintang seem to be more available.

    Bucephalandra

I have a little "Nanga Pinoh" and "superblue" doing better, but they are more shaded. The plants on this post look like they might be Melawi... but you know I am not sure on how these plants are being named, it is like there can be many varients of the same species. I am no expert on these...

    Cryptocoryrne sp spiralis

I have this plant, but as a mature plant it doesnt seem very crimped, but still quite nice. I have retrospiralis too, but only a little, it is much thiner and it has crimped leaves.

where to find Java fern 'needle'

Yes I do, but ive only got a little bit at the moment. I got some together to see if Scapegoat wanted to buy it. I can always try again, but it would most likely be the small 2" plantlets.

    Java fern

Phillippine can grow submerged in the substrate apparently.
  18. sanj

    Java fern

Phillippine variant has much more obvious hammering effect on the leaves and from memory I remember an article on it some years ago in PFK that it can grow on substrate if not buried too much. I dont remember if this was a natural variety or a cultivated one.

    Plant ID please

It does well enough without co2, I grow it in a non co2 injected tank as is Troi's above. No doubt it will grow faster with co2 as well.

    Can I split Cryptocoryne Balansae?

Yup don split that one, it will send out runners once established, but it may take a month or so. You might also get some leaf melt initially.

    Will Pellia (Monoselenium Tenerum) Self-Attach?

I have had this for a long time and it does not seem to attach to anyrhing, but grows btween other plants, wood etc, its not attached though. Another thing from what I remember according to Tropica, Monoselenium Tenerum is not actually Pellia.

cryptocorynes... soo many... too many to choose from!

Hi Nabhan, the Wendtii green is definately one type that fits your spec, I like Wendtii Tropica, but this is an olive-brownish colour which you said you did not want. The other sp. you can get that stays small is Crypt. parva, it has smaller narrower leaves than wendtii, but it is bright green...

    Anyone selling Blyxa Japonica?

Oh I was looking at Greenline yesterday but i didnt see it , maybe ill call them. Was the plant badly damaged that came through in the cardboard packing? I suppose i have found that Tropica are the best quality palnts, but more expensive(and no Blyxa), Greenline is normally fine although the...

    Anyone selling Blyxa Japonica?

Hellooo, can somone put me in the direction of a mail order company that sells this plant, Tropica suppliers dont seem to have it and neither does Greenline(on their website) or maybe one of you are so successful at growing, its taking over your tanks and you cant get rid of it fast enough ? :P
