    700 litre - Boesemani-Stan. 😁

Can't quite get a decent picture of this aquarium, there is a reflection from the wall whichever angle I try. This is my tank no.2, running since 2012 and like the others not been running on co2 injection for some 4 years or so. Like the others it was run down for a couple of years, but it...

    300l Wapoga River

Didn't realise this one has been going on since 2014. I have three long term aquariums on the go, none have had co2 injection since end of 2016. This is the youngest. I guess these kind of planted aqaurims tend to have a wilder look to them, but then I dont tend to over manicure the plants.

(NO MORE) 2,000L High tech BEAST

Filip, do you not have any issue with condensation in your house? That is also of open water. I had to get acrylic covers made for big tank in the living room, although the smaller 700l in my hallway doesn't have any.

(NO MORE) 2,000L High tech BEAST

I have just seen this thread, I've not really been around for a couple of years, but... Wow! 😮 Is it fixed though? That kind of freaks me out. I have two acrylic tanks one running since May 2010 and the other sometime in 2012. I got them made though. I wouldn't trust myself making one that large. 😁

    700 litre - Boesemani-Stan. 😁

Three and a half years too late, sorry I wasn't really on here for a while. They are fine, plants adapt to anything in the PAR range. Aesthetically speaking I quite liked them, you can adjust the colours manually. Eventually though (in the last year) I lost control of the light and the software...

    495litre - Simple

I have kept green and black varieties of Skeleton King, its the only Bucephalandra sp. I tried that eventually fails. Im talking over a period of a year or so, but I am not sure it is a successful 100% of the time being submersed. Maybe you will have better luck. :)

The Gates of Gaia - IAPLC 2015 (121th)

I saw the first bit and thought...uh oh its another Avtar scape... But no, its actually looking quite original, exciting and well thought out. The left bit that was higher could have lent itself to emersed growing, but maybe that would totally change what you were planning. Great the way the...

    Reefer 350 Planted

I just had a thought, rainbow fish do jump, not every day, but in open top you are likely to lose some at some point. Europe has a good Rainbowfish network, but its more in the Germany-Nederlands-Belgium triangle. The UK has improved tremendously in the last few years with access to stock from...

    Reefer 350 Planted

Yes they are a good mix. In that tank I would stick to species that are under 4"/10cm. Where are you based? There are many, many species and even more varieties, many have only been discovered in the last 10 years and a lot have not received scientific names yet.

    Reefer 350 Planted

If it was a reef set up, you really really wouldn't want to count the expense, that is why I stopped my reef interest, to concentrate on Rainbowfish. Too much money...

    Reefer 350 Planted

She is smart. That is exactly the sort of thing that I have experienced. I must have upgraded several tanks. I suppose the only other thing is multiple tank syndrome. But I suppose the wife puts a check on that.

    700 litre - Boesemani-Stan. 😁

If you are interested the rainbowfish are: M. douboulayi "Coliseum Creek" M. kamaka M. ajamaruensis M. urisa M. pygmae M. sexlineata C.axelrodi C.alleni "Wapoga" G. multisquamata "Pagai Mudhole" Some are growing out to be moved later. Those fish that look a bit like M.boesemani are actually...

    300l Wapoga River

    700 litre - Boesemani-Stan. 😁

So err... I have been keeping the water quality going for the fish, but wound down maintenance wise on the plants and just let things happen although kept it under control. Nothing grows fast in here which suits at the moment. Not as nice as it was when I had a tennellus lawn...

    Rocky. The betta nano

Nicely scaped. I have one of these tanks, but I use it for fry, not scaped. I am not sure that the leds solution they provide will be powerful enough for many plants. Try and see though, supplementing with carbon certainly will help.

I have used pretty much the same reactor, but branded for TMC, I have one working on a 700 litre, but i have used others that leaked and this one has PTFE tape wrapped between the connections...not great on that score. It works fine otherwise, I dont find it particularly noisy, that does happen...

Trees of desire (Dennerle Scaper's Tank)

I have this tank, but it is a breeding tank, I like your scape a lot. You might find that the black gravel will show up through the sand path over time, you just have to keep on top of that.
  28. sanj

    750l low tech... sloth tech!

I think if you use fine sand with soil they will mix, but the grain of the capping substrate is larger then there should not really be much mixing over time. A few of my breeding tanks are low tech planted with soil capped with 2-3mm gravel.

Teenage budgets and great expectations [45 Gallon Shallow Cube]

Sororities can be real bitchy, that's what all those American movies tell me. It would be great to see this develop and if it ends up like Tom's and Alistair's it will add another nail of certainty that this is a good approach to achieving a great planted tank without all the high energy input.
  33. sanj

    Lakeland Wraith - NA 120

It is looking very smart, hopefully the plants wont obscure the hardscape, but they look well chosen. The one thing I am thinking of at the moment is the placement of the bucephalandras and proximity to the light source. If you get everything in balance it may not be a problem, but Green spot...

    Nano Walstad tank startup

Wow excellent stuff. Good capture on the Otto bonking. Hopefully you will have some more babies. giant tank for killis

Lovely, I think I said it before, but this is one of my favourate tanks on here. 1300 litre chocolate lake

I think you keep the coolest looking freshwater fish. It even made me reconsider rainbows at one time, but the practicality is virtually non existant... I dont have the right water type being moderately hard, RO and large water changes are prohibitive on anything above a few hundred litres.

Filter farts? I have never used an inline diffuser, always through the filter outlet via a reactor. Occasionally I would hear Budgie noises ( yes as in the bird), but not usually. I always got the impression people had more issues with inline diffusers, it kind of put me off, so I cant say...
