    Just a quick hello

Welcome aboard. Have a general scan through the lighting and algae forums and you'll find quite a few newcomers to the planted side use way to much light. You would setup camp in there if you fired up all 8 of those tubes. 8) I suppose they switch in pairs so 1 pair would be good for starters...

    Newbe introduction (again)

Sounds like a scream a minute at your place. Do you think you have a patience problem? I'm already working out what I need to turn my current 60l shrimp tank into a high tech Iwagumi. Filter, check. Light's, check, Co2 reg, check. Nice expensive rocks, hmmm. Thing is the shrimp tank has...

    Newbe introduction (again)

Welcome again. I suffer from both of these syndromes. The time you have can be used for research time. Good luck with the tank.

    Hi ukaps from Cheshire

Welcome aboard. As for the "get more lighting" I'm sure if you have a good mooch around the forums you will see this can be the route to all evil.

Hello and Happy Easter from Cheshire

Welcome to Ukaps. I envy you and your fish house but I bet I won't envy your electricity bills. We planned a fish house in the garage but have decided against it, and opted to build a candlelarium, or a workshop to make candles in lol. Only costs a fraction of setup costs too. I have some...

    hi

Welcome to Ukaps. Don't forget to start a journal even when your just planning things out. Oh and pics are good :D

    Hi. Another newbie

UK Co2 Fire extinguishers and UK pub cylinders are a standard "DIN 477" connection. This is what you need to be looking for if using a fire extinguisher. Uk Homebrew, Paintball and American co2 cylinders are "CGA320" fitting. These have a central pin in the cylinder that needs to be depressed...

    Hi. Another newbie

    # Your regulator will control the flow so you will only get gas vapor and not liquid. The tube is to assist fast dumping when used as a fire extinguisher. Nothing to worry about unless you have a faulty reg.

    Thought I'd better say Hello!

Welcome aboard. Substrate depends on budget, a good scan through the substrate forum should give you an idea of which way to go. You don't need to go ballastic with light's. Have fun.

    Greetings

Welcome Luis. Glad to hear your ditching the plastic plants. Plenty of info to digest here and when you start up you planted tank don't forget the journal. We all love photo's here. :D

    Beware Curves Ahead

Welcome. The bug can bite hard. With your cycle question, if you plant well from the start they will assist the cycle. Paramaters should stay in check if you stock sensibly. A few of the sponsors supply plants online and many scapers buy online. Fish is sort of normal but not something I've...

    Hi from a new member

Welcome aboard. Your planted tank will give you something else to trim and tend to. You'll probably be starting a Wabi soon if you hang around here.

    Hi and Thank you.

I suffer from LFS plant nightmares. They ususally stock Elodea and Cabomba only along with 1 or 2 non aquatic species. If your really lucky you may rarely find some Vallis too. Shirley Aquatics have had a revamp and now stocking Tropica pots. I was quite impressed with their range on a recent...

    Hi and Thank you.

The rocks look great but I think you may have 1 or 2 non aquatic species of plant in there. One is the ferny type just left of centre and the other is the short varigated plant just right of centre and far right. These may just melt away over time.

Got the bug after 20+ years.

So I've been out of fishkeeping for over 20 years. Co2 was just surfacing, but with unlimited access to information and new products to play with I am back. It started with the new girlfriend who had a Biorb 30l boxed up in the garage. She never got a heater as her ex told her "Tropicals are...
