    Cat litter

well i usually go to the Beckton (A406/A13) one, due to its mahoosiveness, but Bow is prob closest, so will pop down there. I have one near work, so may pop down in my lunch one evening if my local lacks any too.

    Cat litter

Problem I have is it needs to be inert. Want to maintain hard water ish. Akadema reduces ph from my understanding.

    Cat litter and Bog wood

How big is the bog wood. TESCO are doing large clear containers 25l for a pair for £6 or something. They do a 45l one for £6 single. Would have thought that might be big enough?

    Nano Gravel Cleaner

A narrow pipe with its bending ability is apealing. Same time, something more custom might work better. The Dennerle is narrow and long The JBL has a mesh and covers more ground. I would need some lilly pipe to make an intake, and some mesh of some sort. Anyone got any they are will to send...

    Nano Gravel Cleaner

Its an option, but something long term, reliable, and solid. As metioned, if I had some pipes laying about would have given it a go, but dont. And look for a mesh size that allows debris to pass but stops gravel. For whats cost £10-13 Its just seems the aggro involved and cost better off...

    Nano Gravel Cleaner

I can see debris 1cm into the substrate. So I really need to ruffle the substrate to get things dis-lodged.

    Nano Gravel Cleaner

And suck up all my gravel? Molar clay is so light it will suck up faster then debris. Hence, the jbl has a mesh system leaving gravel. Sure I could DIY something. But by the time I have thought the bits and tools to make my own would have spent 10+ I would have thought.

    Nano Gravel Cleaner

Dennerle Nano Gravel Cleaner http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/fish/wate ... ing/184165 vs JBL AquaEx 10-35 Nano Gravel Cleaner http://www.swelluk.com/aquarium/cleanin ... 46642.html Anyone used either? I have one but its pretty big and would take out most water in like 15seconds in a nano. So...

Subtrate cleaning in heavily planted tanks

Thanks, think I need to vacuum my substrate, just I have molar clay, very light and think it will suck into any pipework, but sure I could get some mesh sorted.

Subtrate cleaning in heavily planted tanks

One thing i see is recomendations to vacuum and clean subtrate, etc etc. when you have a lightweight subtrate heavily planted surely vacuming would disturb the plants and its roots and make a mess of the whole setup? What if you have a carpet? What if you have soil subtrate? My shrimp nano...

    John Innes on its own

look into lowering your ph, I have found that London hard water is not soft enough, to have something raise that further would stress rasbora, etc as they are soft water fish.

    Cat litter

Agree with Lancs. I washed it until it was crystall clear, then left for a few days to dry out, then washed it again, throughly, once dry, it would relase a little cloudiness on washing again. Did this daily, left to dry over night, for a week, and then left to soak for another week, washing...

    Simple substrate test.

so, by adding RO water in a water change, doesnt neccessarily lower TDS as the clay will release what it has collected? In layman terms?

Tesco CL 781, wow, thats huge.

    Simple substrate test.

Please, don't know If that makes a difference, but I did wash mine, and not seen constant rises in tds.

    Simple substrate test.

Dont get it, Tesco seems to be rising, whereas mine settled now for a month or two, seems to be on par with my tap water? Not rising either?
  22. S

    Simple substrate test.

It's perfumed, so really needs a wash as not sure what effect that perfume has on the tds. Washed a few times, will help, and same time causing less cloudiness. Kill two with one.

    Simple substrate test.

Did you wash the cat litter? Awesome test by the way. Been going crazy with mine.
