Be careful, Tower Hamlets has Sunday restrictions on single yellow before 2pm. Some parts of Westminister is the same also. Some pay and Displays are free on Sundays. Just be sure you read the council sites before you park on a single yellow. Pay and displays are generally safer as they are...

    New Tank Small white bugs?

Add your fish, no probs, free food. Very hard getting rid without chems, some say soak in carbonated water for a night but not sure that kills eggs only the bugs themselves. I had the same, no fish, just snails, and had Nematodes. wondered where they ccame from, but if you have plants certain...

    New Tank Small white bugs?

Plants as eggs on them most likely, heard bog wood is also a common introduction. Can also be food, if you feed dried foods. Doubt it will be flakes.

    New Tank Small white bugs?

I have Nematodes and Copepods in my tanks. Nematodes - Worm like tiny 3-4mm Copepods - White dots that dart around.

Quite right, that was a June offer was it not? And new issue in pipeline already. Chances of filter last week would have been very slim as tank offer would have started already.

UK Shops for the Planted Tank Hobbyist

The Water Zoo in Peterbourough is impressive for fish selection. Maidenhead Aquatics in Peterborough, thought a small shop, had large selection of shrimp, and the centre tank was amazing. http://ukaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=21851

    Peterborough visit - Maidenhead Aquatics

Whilst weekend away, went to The Water Zoo, and Madenhead Aquatics in Peterborough seeing I was there and wow, the centrepiece tank was mahoosive. Apparently UKAPS had a hand in developing it? So who was it? I just pondered across it by chance. Worth the visit for the big tank alone.

Where can I buy wood in the UK?

My local LFS had loads of Redwood, the issue I had was they were mostly large, and I had to buy one and chop it up a little for the tank, local as in Wholesale Tropicals in Bethnal Green, loads of rock too

    Suggestions on nano tank

Same with me, well 2 P@H tanks, I use the filter supplied, but you could go for a hanging filter, which just has a suction pipe alone, persoanlly a lot less intrusive inside the tank. I got a small heater 25w probably the same as big tom, and does the job. And sure you could hide it, with some...

    Cloudy water

This, Is it a new tank, is it stocked or added too recently? Set up a nano, and used water from another tank, and after a few water changes introduced my rasboras, all well for a week+. This weekend introduced 4 pygmy corys and did a water change and next noticed a little smokyness in the...

    Disaster

If its in the original box, and bought recently, they can reprint receipts for you. Good luck mate, if you were nearer would have helped, not that my car is any good, only has two seats, and a boot designed for hand bags (its rubbish).
  46. S

    Disaster

This, its brand new, on principle you should take it back, maybe you know someone who can help with transport. Phone them, see what they say, did you have it delivered?
  47. S

How often do you replace your heaters?

Get one that maxes out on the desired temp.. I.e my nano one only goes up to 26'c. If it failed it wouldnt be so bad really.

    Grow your own.

Similar, i used fresh clean tap water, as a bath for the critters in reality, but none of the water went in, may set up something again this summer. Did yoou introduce the daphnia, I only got mos larvae and the odd blood worm.
  53. S

    Stupidest fish award....

I was wondering how you would get him out
  54. S

    Grow your own.

How do you scoop out daphnia, I used to use a seive, that would get most of the larger mosquito larvae, into freash clean tap water, leave them in there for a bit, then into tank. Howveer the seive the smaller larve would get left behind, which was fine actually.

    Air Pump at night?

I bought a valve for co2, so it can be switched off at night, yet I do have a high stock level of fish, so would be interested to know if even though the co2 is off, can the fish consume the o2?

    New beginning-Re build of tank

I have tried a few plant in my time, and failed, Vallis was one, just didnt grow tall. I then tried Java Fern and Java Moss, as appaently they did well in low lights yet it seems to prodice loads of small stems and attach itself to stuff and break off, but never grew big, just stayed small...

Thanks buddy, will do some reading tonight around the FE co2, and try order some bits. The journal sounds like a plan. For a green carpet, There Glosso, Dwarf Hairgrass, i did know of another, Pennywort of some sort, in an old mag I was reading. Supposed to be a easy carpet and easy grower...

    New beginning-Re build of tank

It came with a short and long spray bar, i opted for the short, and direct it down and towards the front glass of the tank, creates a clockwise current, but in turn direct flow on the surface that way also. New beginning-Re build of tank

Yeah, I thought Cat Litter being a clay, had a high CHC content therefore able to retain nutrients better then say soil? Your probbably right though, about sand filtering down, might go for a coarse larger granual sand, which may help it stay at the top?

    New beginning-Re build of tank

Hi folks, many thanks for the replys. The light isnt bad, I will take a pic, and see if I can post it up, give an indication of the light. I do make the assumption its bad, but it may well be sufficient. I have another ligting unit so could add another tube. But the idea of lower cost LED...
