Do a simple scape, sure even at low tech you can acheive some great results, the more plants you have the less risk of a algae ridden tank. A lil algae isnt a major concern as it is a food source but still :thumbup: I have Anubias Petite in me shrimp tank, no issues so far. Crypts, Ferns...

Evaporation lids are useful here, not only limit evaporation, but the added benefit of stopping dust and bugs amongst others getting in, well 85% of the time

They eat fish too, tetras make an easy meal for the bigger larvae. Watch vids on you tube of them pouncing. Eat anything it can catch I believe.

Stick with puffers. Ottos. Sure you wouldn't have a snail problem, lol

I have read puffers dont fair well with other fish, you may get away with oto's and maybe some corries, as there is a good chance that wont comepete for food at the top level of the tank. Puffers are slow movers and feeders. Add snails and at least there is a food source for the puffers that...

Be interested to know myself, one of my nano's has a heater, but have another nano, which I may keep white cloud mountain minows or just an all shrimp tank. Plan was to keep this unheated. Neither has shrimp as of now. And my room temp hovers areound 19-20'c too.

Hmmm, 6 wks you say, in a Nano, I would assume this would genarate the required co2, and could be provide enough to keep aquarium going I would have thought maybe a tad longer even?

I thought shrimp did well in un-heated tanks? But that might have been a specific shrimp.
