Considering your reading material, and we're already up to page 8; I think it should be caller Eternity :)
Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
Hi.I don't use taptalk but from your flickr account I hit the arrow highlighted here.
Then copy this link
You can also upload a photo direct from your device to Ukaps server.
There's an upload tab at the bottom of the post
Hi, good start.
If you're in AquaJardin ,check out of the display tanks down towards the fish. They've got one using slate.
Not sure of the look you are after,to obscure the filter, but Limnophila Sessiflora has always grown well for me with no co2.
Unlike this journal, this tank was/is still going.
Running out of time before the IAPLC entry date, plus a rubbish pic= 1263rd
Went on holiday in May so took the gas off, and kept it off for the rest of the year.
Actually did pretty well, virtually no maintenance through the summer as we...
Actually it had crossed my mind, still got a couple of months till the final entry date, so hopefully i might get it looking how i want before then.
Thanks for the support BTW.
TBH, the original set up of diffuser under the filter inlet, worked really well, except for the lack of surface...
Keep forgetting to update this, had to wade through 10 pages to find it buried away, shows how busy the forum is :)
This turned out to be rather prophetic.
The atomiser (like so many threads on here), has turned into a right PITA.
Despite regular cleaning, the BPS has been erractic, starting at...
May i ask, how & why you're 'cycling' ?
If there's no lifestock in there, why not keep the lighting period low, crank up the co2, and do daily water changes till everything starts to grow in.
Get the plant mass higher, and growing well before thinking about 'cycling'
Just a thought.
Cheers Richard, lovely will do just fine.
We have similar set-ups, to a point. The lights.
Mine is the now the limiting factor, which makes the co2 management easier for me.
Stuff grows a lot slower ,than say some of the 'Signature' scapes on here with better lighting.
The good point of this means...
Cheers fellas
like i said, thought i'd kick myself for asking.
Surprised really, less than 1 BPS (JBL bubble counter), and only couple of hours with a T8 lighting, and the moss pearls :D
(yes i now it needs trimming)
Probably going to kick myself for asking this.
Co2 comes on an hour before lights & goes off 3 hours before the end of the lighting period.
My drop checker's in an area of low flow, and isn't yellow.
Just changed from a ceramic diffuser to an inline atomiser.I've dropped the BPS rate, but this...
Hi
nice start.Hope the hairgrass works out for you.
If you ever fancy a change, this shorter inlet works well, with no noticeable drop in flow.
I have a similar set up
Thanks Claire
TBH i never actually got around to using the D-D reg, i'd picked it up practically free, but couldn't be bothered throwing more money at it, in an effort to convert it.
The UP A-165 that's running is the 1st one i've used, but seems pretty good.
Been awhile since i updated....
The Hygro Pinna melted big time, so replaced with Hygro Siamensis 53B
The Lilaeopsis brasiliensis is throwing out plenty of runners, and is probably due for a trim & the Xmas moss is attaching nicely.
Random pics.
Small update from last night.
Not exactly mega growth compared to some super charged tanks, but that's to be expected, lighting considered.
Good news is that just about everything is settling in well, even the Stau Repens & H.Pinnatifida which i've always failed with before.
Going to top this...
Nice shot of the 'Silvertip' , if you like active fish then they're definitely for you..
The males i have, spar just about the same time every night, you could almost set your watch by them.
No plans yet, going to get the whole co2,flow thing worked out first.Probably something to keep the scale.Open to suggestions.
Cheers
Thanks mate.
In check, as in keep the pathway clear? That's the plan.Scissors at the ready.
Nice start, love the look of that stone
Def agree with the above post ^^^^^
The other thing i would consider, would be to move the spraybar to one side, rather than only half way across the back, with the diffuser on the opposite side.
Though that may just be me.....
This is insane, love it so far.Think you might have to revise your 3 months...:woot:
Are you running 2 filters, same as the end of your last scape.? Outlets at the sides, inlets in the middle?
Sorry, always seem to be asking about your flow !
Good luck mate, hope it works out for you.
I've discovered that i jumped into a Dutch style way too early in my own learning curve, but i have every confidence in your stem growing ability.:)
Some nice blocks of planting there, not too many streets?
Just an observation, which may not be even...
This is excellent, i really admire it.
Loving the effect of the shady areas dotted here & there at the substrate level.
Bit like when you walk into a new garden for the first time, & there are lots of hidden nooks & crannies to explore (or maybe that's just me)
Good work with the lighting rig...
This is epic.
Personally i really like the Pogostemon.
One observation, is the 'circular' gap in the wood, dead centre is the thing i'm drawn to straight away.
Is that T.Espei & P.Simulans in there? Very nice
Got any rock to weigh down the wood if you put it back in?
As far as pouring water back in, i'm fortunate that i can place a bucket higher than the water level of the tank, and so can use lengths of air line to syphon new water back in.
Failing that i've used a sieve or my hand, to break the...
Dave, that's looking cracking.Puts my Clearseal to shame.
If it were me, when the Rotala has grown in, i'd be tempted to cut back quite hard, the stems that are hidded by the wood to get that area bushy.
But leave the stems to the right of the wood, that are more visible, as single stems.Try and...
Firstly welcome to the forum, as a first post, that certainly is right up there.
I'm sure plenty of people will chip in, but personally i would consider reducing the lighting period, especially at the start of a new tank.
The T8's are on for 11hours straight ?with T5's kicking in for 6 extra...
Looks like the problem that i used to occasionally get in my Rio, reminds me of staghorn.
TBH the jewel outlet's aren't great at getting flow down to the substrate.
My other problem was that i got a lax with the filter maintenance, how often do you clean it out?
Not sure i've been much help, but...
Ahh. i was thinking about the smaller piece, which i was going to break up into 2.
I fished it out from the bottom of the pile, 'Jenga' style.
Only went in for a few bits & pieces with my daughter, so wasn't a serious buyer.
Yes, i did see you waving it about though.
Looking forward to seeing...
It's my own fault for putting it down.:)
Actually i saw a good point on it to split into two.
We should wear little UKAPS name badges, i'd have said hello.
Agree with everyone else, that loach is a little cracker & a fantastic layout.
Basic question for you, if you don't mind. What flavour Moss is that, and is it tied to a number of stones?
I really admire the way this is growing in.
Envious of your Lobelia, been trying it out in my own humble effort, it seems to be underused in general (?)
i really like the before pic (not that i don't like the after :))
Some of those are Crypts are immense.
Have you ever considered an inline heater ? My Hydor is the best bit of kit i bought all year.
Fair play to you for posting a FTS of a tank that you're not happy with.
I like my journals to be warts & all.
Having said all that, i still like it :)
Interesting.
I'm curious to see how the Lysimachia gets on.
I used to grow several different types terrestrially,in very wet clay soil & also as a marginal.
It was vigorous, to say the least
Not so boring if you don't know what you're doing like me. :)
Is it just a case of trimming back to the height required, and layering from front to back?
Tank's starting to come on a treat BTW
I shouldn't worry too much about the Amano's yet, there's plenty of nooks & crannies for them to be hiding out in.
Didn't see any of mine for 2 weeks after i first put them into my Rio. :)
Ta, i might need it :D
Cheers, good thing about them is they max out at 2cms so the bioload is quite small, and they stick together well.
For me, i always prefer to have a larger number of smaller fish in a tank this size.
Most MA will stock them as 'Neon Green' Rasboras, sometimes 'Neon...
Thanks, will be a lot happier when the carpeting fills in better.
The fish are Microdevario Kubotai, school nicely together & will stay small.Got 15 in there, couple of Amano shrimp & several oto's.
Not much going on, moved couple of rocks about
Fitted Hydor inline heater.Impressed with it, though it's a big old beast.
Does Frogbit flower? Looks different to how the plant usually produces offspring.
Fiddled about trying to get the flow right,( carpeting plants weren't exactly taking...
Thanks.I've slowly got it upto 8½ hours
No worries, it's all about opinions
The Parvula is slower than i hoped for, so have trimmed & aimed more flow at it.
