    Lighting Ideas for a 600 x 450 x 300 (h)

For what its worth as its currently out of stock. Got a cheap ebay dimmer on my 36cm high tank. Quite pinky light IMO,but now I'm used to it. I like its more streamlined profile compared to Chihiros.

    Where am I

Hi Imo unless you can't stand the colour of them I wouldn't change them yet. Less light is easier to handle when you're first starting out. Standard Jewel T5 is quite a lot to start with, adding reflectors and swapping for new bulbs will just increase light output.

    Please estimate my PAR

My Rio 180 runs on T8 bulbs (30W, no reflectors). It sucessfully grows all the plants you listed above, plus Crypts. Previously Vallis & Limnophila Sessiflora were rampant. Soil substrate, never used co2. http://ukaps.org/forum/threads/feed-forget.39344/

    t5 and algae

Hi Try a forum search for "ph profile". Do the changes on a day where you can regularly keep an eye on the fish/shrimps. Don't want to gas 'em

    t5 and algae

Sounds like you don't have enough co2 for the current levels of lighting. The above idea is good, plus can you safely increase the amount of co2? Difficult to judge but "1 bps" doesn't seem like much on a 125L,I use that on a tank half the size. How are you diffusing,in tank ceramic,inline...

Best light tubes for Juwel Rio 125?

    Do they need changing ? Im my Rio180 i like 1 6500k & 1 'warmer' tube.Think it's 3500k off the top of my head.

New to plants need some lighting help

As you're new to plants, T8's sound like good advice to me.Lower levels of lighting will give you a chance to try things out, problems can occur but a lot more slowly. Vaguely remember T8's are going to be phased out at some stage in the future, which may be a down side. I use 2 T8's over my 70L...

    Lowering Juwel Lighting Levels

Sadly i don't see how you can fit a cover under a standard Juwel lighting unit, especially if the internal filter is still in there? :sorry:

Lets get the 6500k debate going again then

Got a 6500K & a 4000K one of my tanks The orange colouring on my T.Hengli is much better under the 4000K IMO

    Lighting time?

    Lighting time?

For what it's worth, i'd agree with starting with 5 hrs Also, slightly off topic.Have you considered daily water changes for the first couple of weeks.Helps to cut down on algae problems in the long term IMHO
