    Bioload calculators & stocking suggestions

The subject of otos & their care, comes up a lot. Putting 6 into an immature (?) small tank, I think the food source is going to run out pretty quick, which means you're going to have to supplement their diet. They can be fussy.See, numerous, feeding threads. Not saying it can't be done.

    Bioload calculators & stocking suggestions

Personally, I'd want more than 6 Embers. Small fish show better behaviour in groups of >10 ime. As great as otos are,I'd worry about keeping 6 alive in a tank that small. That's just me.Good luck.

    Recommended fish?

The water hardness would be ? Embers or Green Neon tetra to start you off (hardness permitting)

    Need a little advice

My 60cm tank had 10 green neon tetras in it that I never saw. Now I have 16, they practically eat from hand. Ime tetras rarely do well in numbers below 10. Of course, extra cover will always be appreciated.

What's wrong with my chili rasboras?

Vallis Nana has narrow leaves that wouldn't ruin the sense of scale, but would be long enough to grow up to the surface then across.Where's the flow going? The only problem if it takes off,is that it can get a bit invasive.

    90litre Tank FISH stocking query

The most quarrelsome fish I've ever kept. Started off with 20; one by one the weaker ones would get picked off. Ended up with couple of dominant ones.In 15+ years, never had any fish numbers dwindle so fast.

Trouble deciding between Flame and Glolight tetra

I see on that journal thread, you also mention Serpae tetras. Red Phantoms will give a similar look but are better behaved imo. http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/hyphessobrycon-sweglesi/ Down points, are that they aren't particularly active, and will pick off shrimplets.Black phantoms have...

    which Apistogramma

Hi What's your water like? Hardness/ph I use to keep Borellii. They're pretty easy to keep as long as the water's not too hard.

Little fish - really teeny tiny, iclke munchkin fellas

Hi.I found the Kubotai to be serial jumpers.Kept them in school of 20, in a 60cm tank.Constant squabbles as the weaker ones were slowly picked off one by one.

    Unusual Nannacara Anomala colouring

Sadly, the half split colouring isn't normal. The female lasted about 10 days before dying. The consensus on the BCA seems to be that symptoms like this occur occasionally in SA cichlids,as is usually fatal.

    Unusual Nannacara Anomala colouring

Thanks for posting Thing is, the colouring was normal for the first 5 weeks. Only in the last week, has the split occurred.

    Unusual Nannacara Anomala colouring

Hi Appreciate this may be a bit specialised, but had trouble posting on the BCA I got hold of a trio of Nanna Anomola about 6 weeks ago. They were in a quarantine tank for 4 weeks, during which everything was fine, including the colouring which was just like every library photo i've seen...

    Fish suggestions

If you like Harleys, then have a look at these T.Hengeli or T.Espei They both jump though IME. Instead of Cards, Green Neon Tetra or Ember Tetra

My stock wish list for new planted tank anything you'd add or change?

Hi, FWIW.... always tricky to answer these threads without sounding too negative. Personally, i'd decide on just one type of Cory and up the numbers to 6, rather than 3 types with just 2 fish of each. If it's a community tank that you're looking for, i'd go with just 3 schooling groups of fish...

    Shoaling fish in hard water

Just to prove the point, i've kept Rummys in mod. hard water, for the last 3+ years with no problems :) Personally, a 60cm tank is too small for such an active fish, but that's me. T.Espei & T.Hengli are excellent fish, but like most Rasboras, tend to be jumpers IMO (though floating plants help...

    Small community pair

Ahh.Sounds like you already know the answer to this question. For the record, i keep my Borelli in 60cm with a 7 Red Phantoms plus assorted Oto's & Amano's
  38. stu_

    Small community pair

Take your time, there's no rush ;) What have you got in there already ?
  39. stu_

    Small community pair

Personally i wouldn't keep Kribs in a 60L (60cm?) tank, plus if they breed they can get a bit tasty. GBR's rarely seem to do well in anything other than soft water and will prefer warmer temps. Depending on the numbers of the existing stock and water parameters maybe Apistogramma Borellii ?

    Tetras or barbs

T.Espei are related to Harlequins but are different. They stay a bit smaller, but are more colourful IMHO There's an ID section on them in the last edition of PFK

    Tetras or barbs

If it were me, i'd consider keeping it more Asian then. Lots of nice 'Puntius' varieties. Cherry Barbs if you want some garish colour, couple of people on here are keeping '5 banded', which are a good alternative to the more boisterous 'tiger', i had some 'checkered' few years ago that coloured...

Small schooling fish for new tank

As above, Embers always look good in a planted tank. Open topped, or lid to the tank? Most Rasboras are good jumpers
