Need help with clear and shrivelled leaves :(

Hi, Had the tank going now for nearly a month and recently noticed the following with the Hygrophila. As you can see from the picture, new leaves appear transparent and some of the older leaves seem crinkled in appearance. Also our Staurengen Repens is losing it lower leaves, again these seem...

    Dying plants

I always ran my Roma at 8 hours as those T8 bulbs are not very powerful. I think up the lightening and keep an eye out for any algae, as determining what type appears is a good indicator of what is deficient in the tank.

    Dying plants

The lighting in that Roma tank is a very low level as I had one myself a few years ago so I would now worry about over doing the lighting. How much of the "easy-life profito plant fertilizer" do you dose?

    Holes in leaves

Well a number of anubias hastifolia leaves have either a hole or two with brown edges, or the leaf edges have started to erode with yellow/brown edging. Not really seen this before with aquarium plants that are grown submerged, yes with swords as they are grown immersed and so these leaves will...

    Holes in leaves

Well as it seems like the co2 is sufficient, I guess it must be a lack of nutrients. Potassium or Magnesium or something else??

    Holes in leaves

I may just go back to the 4kdh water and reagent as that way you can put as many drops in as you like to get the required colour density.

    Holes in leaves

Just tested water with a PH meter and the reading was 7.04, gas was just about to start, both drop checkers were green. The bromo blue solution from AE is very dark marking it hard to read in the glass diffuser though, but looking at the edges I can see that is green as well.

    Holes in leaves

Well I installed an jbl inline diffuser at the weekend so that's a change. Will check colours tomorrow and try and get it to go green. Sent from my SM-G935F using Tapatalk

    Holes in leaves

Just over 2 weeks now. Lighting is at 6 hours right now. Just checking the co2 now add for some new bromo blue solution and drop checker. Put it in at 7 tonight and it's still very blue, co2 has now gone off.

    hygrophila mini or hygrophila compacta

Well it just arrived from AE, guess what, it's actually a Hygrophila Corymbosa compact. So not sure why their website states it's a mini.....o_O

    Holes in leaves

Noticed some yellowing around a hole in an annual leaf, and some yellowing around the edges of another annubias leaf.

    Holes in leaves

Reading up a bit on why this happens, its seems as the leaves are not turning yellow, this could be a sign of potassium deficiency, is that a fair assumption?

    Holes in leaves

It only seems to be effecting these leaves at the moment. We only have lemon tetras, amano shrimp and Harlequins in the tank. So that leaves co2 or potassium I guess

    Holes in leaves

Hi, noticed the alternanthera cardinalis in my tank has started to develop holes around the edges. Tank is 125l, external Eheim 350t filter, Fluval 10watt led, dosing 1.25ml Tropica specialised ferts each day, with injected co2. Any help much appreciated, thanks.

    hygrophila mini or hygrophila compacta

Thanks for the tips, I've order some "mini" so lets see how I get on

    hygrophila mini or hygrophila compacta

Are these two plants the same thing, just named differently by different suppliers? AE sell the mini, Tropica sell the comptacta?

    Anubias melt !

Well I also cut back the rotted rhizome as far as I could, so hopefully it should be okay now. Have to keep an eye on them.

    Anubias melt !

Thanks fro the reply Graeme. Yeah its maybe something like that. Nothing else has changed in the setup, apart from the water that gets replaced each week. It's a bit annoying as previously healthy Anubias have been effected, they have been in the tank at least a year if not two years. So I...

    Anubias melt !

Hi, All Anubias are attached to wood as they will rot if buried into the substrate. They have been growing fine in the tank for a year or more. It's just odd that all of a sudden they started to rot. Any ideas anyone?

    Anubias melt !

Hi, I bought three large Tropica Anubias from Pets at Home just before Christmas in readiness for a new 125L tank which was to replace the 70L tank about a week later. I put the three pots in my existing 70L tank, which already had Anubias growing in it without any trouble for the last year or...

    Plants ID Please

Have a look at this link of bolbitis heteroclita. As you can see the three leaves all grow from the stem, with the picture posted one leaf grows from the stem, this one leaf then develops into the 3 pronged leaf. http://www.h2oacquariofilia.it/public/foto%20schede%20piante/bolbitisheteroclita.jpg

    Plants ID Please

Just to put my two penneth worth in. I think the first plant is microsorum pteropus rather than Bolbitis heteroclita. The reason I say this is with the Java fern there is one leave growing from the stem and this one leave grows into three prongs (leaf shapes). With the Bolbitis each of the 3...

Advice needed - Trouble growing plants and algae issues.

Re: Recommedations on Low Light Plants Maybe the light is a little high as you have 72 watts over a 34 gal tank which is I think is quite high. You could try and cover one tube or turn one off (If you can control the tubes individually). I have a low light setup with 80watts of light over a...

    Shrivelled up leaves

I've started a new tank 70l and am 2 week into the cycle. I've noticed that new leaves on the Ludwigia Arcuata are staying small and seem to be shrivelled up, this compares with the Rotala sp green growing nicely next to it Any help much appreciated Cheers

    Bolbitis heudelotii
