    The big mistake.

Wow, nice bit of wood! What are you thinking for planting? I presume the soil area will be covered in plants? If so I think you'll lose all those rocks at the back to the plant growth. It looks like you are trying to create height on the back right? I would probably do this with taller plants...

Cave Environment - Infrared Photosynthesis - Bookshelf 6G

Interesting project, and the lid looks very neat. Scuds? They seem to thrive in our pond filter in total darkness. They seem to live fine at room temperature too as I've had them in unheated indoor tanks.

I swapped out the two Leddy lights for a hanging Fluval 3.0. First time I've used a hanging light and I can see why it's popular - completely changes the view of the top of the tank. Is there is trick to hiding the cable though - that's the only thing that annoys me?! I also took off the part...

    Resurrection (EA900)

It looks amazing! I love all the detail in the mix of plants. Would some other native critters help with the movement you are missing - I'm sure they would pick off some but perhaps snails, asellus? I'm not sure what's bigger but not a threat to fish beetle wise.

New custom build, 50L divided long tank

I always like projects when there is attention to the little details, will be interesting to see how it all fits together. Just watch the vent width (is it smaller on the second design?) last thing you want is a fish wedging itself in and sometimes they aren't the brightest! That was a quick...

After the photos, I think I'll have to let one of them grow out. The right hand one is Ozelot Tropica, the other was just a lucky dip so I'm not sure the variety. It might be they won't cope - there is glass over that side usually so it will more higher humidity - they may change their minds...

Everything is growing. The red root floaters are crazy, but I like them thick as it reduced my worry of jumpers. The left had side usually has a glass cover which is why the escaping swords are a bit wonky. Should I cut back the sword leaves trying to grow emersed? Will they stop producing...

Added Christmas moss today to the parts of the wood that are damp- thanks for the suggestion @shangman Also added in some red root floaters. Under the water the crypts/swords are all melting dramatically, but with enough hints of new growth I'm not worried. I'm on the fence about the peace...

    Kitchen Tank

I'm not 100% sure yet. I'm going to hang a peace lilly in the water just behind the wood but there is a lovely textured flatish area that I think wants something smaller so it's not completely hidden. I think I might start with some garden moss and go from there.

    90x45x45 medium tech :)

I'm not sure that's really a good idea. TDS is made up of everything - so very over simplified you might have 150 tds from tap water or remineralized RO made up of your GH/KH plus 150 tds from of your ferts to give you 300 tds total. If you do a 50% water change with pure RO your TDS might drop...

    90x45x45 medium tech :)

Draining it and using superglue would be the easiest option - some plants you'll be able to wedge where you want and some will plant in the substrate - but if you want plants along the wood it will need gluing or tying. With moss tying may be easier - but javafern/anubias etc. gluing is.

Might be a bit late now, but I'd suggest slopping the substate more dramatically. You see how when you take a photo looking down at an angle the tank looks much deeper front to back/you can see more of the planting? You can make that happen in reality by sloping the substrate so the back is...

I've always used blackouts instead of chemicals too. You want to remove as much as possible first so that it's not decomposing in the tank when it dies. Even floss/sponges will contain bacteria so you can swap out a sponge if that's easier. Didn't think to suggest it earlier, but for next time, the other option with a small filter is to run it in your existing tank as an extra - then move it to the new tank when you are ready to go.
