mts are the rambo's at survivle (sp). i had a load a dry gravel in a bucket for the best part of 12 months in the shed, and when i added water to it (dont sk why) with in minutes they all started to come back alive.go figure

generaly if a snail leves the water its A- looking for some were to lay eggs .Not in this case. B- something in the water they dont like. just my pennies worth.

alot of things can trigger the molting off, but i would stick with a water change or somthing new in the water, although the moon idea is more interesting.

using hot water for a water change???? i personaly have never found the need to use hot water when doing a water change. 20% of cold water doesn't have much effect on temperature, and my fish kind of love the degree or 2 drop in temp, but like i said just my own opinion.

they will be ok in a planted tank as they wont eat them. they will graze on the algae nd b4you know it there wontbe any algae left, so you will have to suplerment there dietry needs.

you will know the difference if you find it. have you ever pulled skin off your arm after being sunburnt?????? thats what a molt will look like........say no more. a dead shrimp will be a dead shrimp or eaten....

they are very thin when young, but when they mature you will notice the arrow head, if it is planaria.

i have never seen them swim but white worm like things. can grow up to 2 cm in length and has a head shaped like an arrow.

if there is uneten food in the tank then they will populate to excessive numbers. more gravel vac's an lless feeding will make them dye off eventually. although harmless to fish and shrimp i have seen these little crettens (on a few occasions) get under apple snails trapdoor making the snail to...

there great for cleaning any uneaten food and stare up your substrate. i have then in all my tanks and wouldnt have 1 without them.

it must be eating something. they do tend to lay dormant after a good feed. some times they can lay dormant for a week or 2 to digest there food intake.

pond / bladder snails. no they dont eat live plants just dead or decaying, and can get o ut of control easy if over feeding.

i empty my tank water on my plants in the garden after a wc. they love it, and that way nothing goes in to the loo and can populate else were.

they can survive months outa water. i had a bucket with a few in for over 1 month in the shed with no water either. when i filled it up with tank water, within 5-10 minutes they were crawling around. they have a trapdoor which will keep the moister in so dont worry mate.

yer there like the size of apple snails. thats all. these guys give live bearth and have a gestation period of nine months like woman. you would be looking at about 15 babies max per year from these guys. i was lucky a few days after i bought these i ended up with 13 babies. :D

i just plopp them in aswell, as they have trapdoors and can acclimatise them selves if need be.

Do these eat your plants? These are new to me, do you have any photos? Are they plant eaters? How big do they get? the ramshorn snails only eat dea or decaying plants. they dont eat live an healthy plants. ile put some some pics up of the trapdoors, will have to put them on photo bucket...

oh yes they just love grazing and hanging out on moss. its perfectly normal for them to do that. i have floating plants and the shrimp just love to hang out in the roots of them and pick from the surface of the water.

its a big yayyyy from me, i have them in all my tanks but find it hard to keep them in with my crays. they will stay under water and wont escape. the only reason they would try and leave the water is if there was bad water.

you dont need to add the snail strong liquid as long as you can maintain a ph above 7 for shell growth, as below will cause shell erosion (sp). and feed caclium foods like green veg. which will help good shell growth.

rock shrimp are also known as bamboo shrimp (which i have 2 of) along with other names. i wasnt refaring to them tough as was just saying that shrimp "rock" :lol:

although there in with the fish you mentions and the plant cover you will get some that will escape being food and grow to be adults, but not as many if you had an invert only tank. if your worried about them being sucked in to the fillter you can cover the intake with a sponge or put tights...

yes they like a ph above 7 as it helps with good shell growth along with a good calcium rich diet.

they are live bearers and can produce on there own. the babies dont come from the pointy part of the shell :lol: they come from inside the opening and mostly float when first born.

no special requirements for keeping crays really. hiding places is a must. they do like doing there own DIY and live plants will get chewed up for surface cover. a secure lid as they will try to escape. the only fish i keep with mine are guppies, they dont eat them or chase them and the guppies...

they will eat almost all other snail. they will only eat when hungry and when full they go into hiding like for about a week to digest. Then the feeding feast starts again.

i use a spay bar for my 2. its submerged and horizontal and points diagnaly towards there fav rock. they love it and i dont need to offer any special food for them as there in a well established tank. they are blooming red so all is good. had these for over 3-4 months. 2 fem's by the way.
