    Broken regulator? Help please

Hi folks, ages ago I bought a used CO2 Art set up, the Elite version, I think. It’s taken me ages to get it set up but I think it might be broken. I’ve got no pressure in the left hand gauge and the big black nob won’t turn any farther clockwise so I suspect it might be broken. The solenoid is...

When do I need a new FE?

Definitely take the advice on not waiting until your FE is empty to think about refilling. I returned from holiday to find a green tank and lots of dead fish, plus an empty FE. I suppose the FE dumped it's remaining gas whilst I was away, but the algae was amazing. The surface was covered...

CO2 FE What to say when getting one?

Can't you get it delivered to work? My receptionists do very well in pressies from me in exchange for letting me receive goods (and for using the post machine) Seriously though - I can't see why they'd care why you would be buying one...what you do with it after you've bought it is your...

Can some one help with my Drop Checker....?

My drop checker came from HK and it only had orange coloured reagent to use (sent in an API test tube  ). Do you know if yours contains Bromothymol Blue? You need a reagent with Bromothymol Blue - the low range Hagen PH test contains this and you also need a 4dKH reference solution which...

    Drop Checker & 4dKH Solution?

I can't believe you just admitted that. I'd have swore blind that black was white if it came down to it ;)

    Cleaning a Ceramic Diffuser

I've had trouble with this method since I found it very difficult to get rid of the solution from inside the diffuser when I was using one of the Dymax ones with the pretty but superfluous spiral inside it. I switched to the method dscribed by Fred and had to admit to being much happier with...

    CO2 Diffusion

Ditto, its suitability refers to the filter's flow rate. I would have thought that if the CO2 is effectively being 'stuck' at the bottom near the inttake, this is an indication that the water flowing from the top is too powerful to let the reaktor do its job.

"Budget" CO2 reactor ideas (less DIY the better).

Dev, I hope nobody minds but I think we may have been having the same thoughts so I'm linking to a recent thread of mine on my usual forum as it may answer some of your own questions about adapting it... tfc thread re: CO2 reactor Incidentally, the phosphate reactor in the first post is made...

Drop Checkers, Reagent mix and 4dKH solution...

Cheers Dave. I think I'll just buy another ph test that uses Bromo Blue as at least I know it works with the 4dKH solution (which I now have). I was just eager to get started now that I have the 4dKH solution. Ta muchly

Drop Checkers, Reagent mix and 4dKH solution...

Having been guided by a good explanation of the Drop checker and the need for the 4dKH solution as a reference solution by Dave Spencer on TFF, I have a couple of questions. My drop checker is a cheapie from Hong Kong. I'm a right cheapskate, almost Scottish one might say... Anyhoo, it came...

Diffuser... Where do you like to stick it!!??

You know I used to think perhaps people exagerrated the importance of having the diffuser placed under the spraybar, or somewhere else where the CO2 bubbles could be pushed back into the water, but since I've moved my diffuser to under the spraybar I simply cannot believe the difference it has...

    New CO2 diffusers

I lurve the idea of the Rhinox, and I believe I cross-posted in your thread on The Barr Report about the Dymax and how crap it was . Unfortunately, I couldn't fit the Rhinox in, simply because my spray bar runs along the back of the tank but not all the way, it goes about 2/3rds from the...

    New CO2 diffusers

Thanks for the reply, just so happens I got a drop checker off as well so we'll see(2 diffusers and a drop checker cost me 2p, with £9.98 postage from HK  ) Cheers again

    New CO2 diffusers

I was looking for a spare CO2 diffuser and ended up chancing my arm on eBay by buying 2 from a seller in Hong Kong, one to use and one spare for when the other needs cleaned. listing The listing says that they are suitable for tanks of 55gals (don't know whether this is imperial or US, but as...

    Cheap fire extinguisher

That's why I was so glad that I had mine refilled last month - it was stamped September 1997 and they did warn me that it couldn't be filled next time without a re-test. Cheaper to buy another reconditioned one. Thanks for the clarification though - I didn't know just how dear it would be to...

    Cheap fire extinguisher

That's where I got mine from last year, although mine was a little dearer than yours with postage. They promised that if it wasn't full when I received it, they'd refill it. Pretty good customer service, although they did manage to send it to my home address when I'd specified work - thye did...

    CO2 kits

Re: the fire extinguisher idea - standard regulators fit them. They just screw on where the nozzle unscrewed. I have been quoted £5 to get a 2kg one refilled and I'm going on Saturday morning to test this out as mine ran out yesterday  Mine was second hand and cost me about £25-8...

    CO2 kits

I looked at Weld Uk when I was sourcing my own components, but found them a little dear - obviously I was looking at the prices for standard regulators etc! [list- ]Now that I know that the pressure guage on the regulator do sweet FA until it's nearly empty, I'd go for one without a pressure...
