I don't suppose anyone knows where I might be able to find an 18w Compact T5? All I can find really is 24w and above, and apparently Interpet don't do an 18w. George, if you read this didn't you use one for your nano a while back, or was that a 24?

Thing is I've got a customer who has one of these dodgy luminaries from China with both an 18 and a 24, and the bulbs need replacing with plant friendly ones.

Cheers,

Tom

Yeah that's the best place, I use the same lights as George and you can't actually replace the tube as far as I know, not without pulling it apart and doing some heavy modding at least.

hi all

this interests me also...

i have the aforementioned dodgy luminaire form china
its an azoo 90cm unit that is loaded with 2 x 27w t5 compacts
(one of which is gone)

i was going to go to lampspecs myself,
do you need specialist aquarium bulbs or is it a con?

my lamps are extemely bright (10000k)
i have read they are too bright for a planted tank, and i should go for 6500k, is this the case?
(bearing in mind its only 57w over a 36 x 12 x 15)

Tom, this may be worth mentioning to you.....
the lamps in my unit are more powerful and shorter than any replacement i can find
(including interpet and all the lamps on lampspecs)

my 27w is about 10.5" long and the interpet version is 24w at 12"
so you may want to check it will fit and not assume it will by the wattage

Im hoping to squeeze 2x 36w into mine or maybe a 24w and a 36w

let me know what decision you make, it is very relevant to me at the mo

many thanks

fourmations - thats interesting, I will have a good look at the unit tomorrow although they did look like a standard 24 and 18.

The 10000K doesn't relate to the brightness of the bulb, only the colour. A 6500 will likely be no darker, just have a more yellowy (I believe) colour to it. 10000k will be quite a crisp white AFAIK. But yes, get the 6500 instead of the 10000

i would be interested to know if it worked out
