Could somebody please explain what is so special about this solution and what are the ingredients that this solution is made of.

Hi Paul

You fill a CO2 drop checker with 4dKH solution and pH reagent. This then goes green with 30ppm. More CO2, it goes yellow, less it goes blue.

Making your own solution is relatively simple, or you can buy it from Aqua Essentials or The Green Machine. 1 bottle will last years.

Yeh, you can make it yourself but to be suse of accuracy and for relatively little money you can just buy a bottle that will last ages. Although, perhaps its just me that likes the easy option!

when the ph lowers to 6.6 (because of carbonic acids produced) and a kh of 4 (hence 4dkh) CO2 is around 30ppm (green)
