Hey
Newbie here
I've been having some issues with some algae for a while now, and would really like some advice.
I keep getting what looks like little green tufts on some of my leaves. It's not on all of them, but mainly seems to be on my ludwigia super red mini, ludwigia repens rubin and limonophila aromatica. I also have had some on my alternanthera mini, and my new flamingo crypt but not as much. I first noticed it on my side wall, which coincidentally is where I put up a poster, with a white inside, to block out the sunlight from my doors. Today I switched the white covering to black. It's not a huge problem right now as i do pinch off any affected leaves, I'm pulling about 10-12 leaves every water change. Some of the plants are new, added in the last few weeks which ive detailed below. I also get green spot algae but nothing a weekly scrape can't handle. Im also currently getting some brown diatoms due to adding new sand in some areas a week ago.
Tank: 350litre, Juwel Rio 350, 120lx51wx66tall
Been cycled since october 2019.
Filtration: 2 canister filters, all ponds solutions 1400 and 2000, both with spray bars
2 powerheads 2500L/H
Lighting: 1 juwel LED unit with day and nature 29w tubes
1 t5 unit with 1 54w colour and 1 54 nature both with reflectors
duration 8 hours a day from 12noon- 8pm
Substrate: Tropica growth substrate with black sand on top
Co2: injected, pressurised tank, in tank diffuser placed underneath APS 2000 spray bar
comes on at 10am, not sure on bubble count, but two drop checkers either side go lime green by 12.
I seem to have a 1 point pH drop, from 7.4 before co2 comes on, to 6.4 by 12.
Also use easycarbo/tnc complete daily
Ferts: EI dosing, 3 days micro, 3 days macro, I use Aquarium plant food uk dry salt ferts by their recipe and add 70ml
4tsp potssium nitrate, 1tsp potassium phosphate, 6tsp magnesium sulphate in 500ml water for macro
1tsp trace in 500ml for micro
