I find these in my tanks in the frogbit on the surface but I am not sure what they are. They are about 2mm across and almost looks as if they are seeds.

It isn't substrate as I see them in tanks with different substrates. Plants that are in both tanks are
  • Frogbit
  • Redroot floaters
  • Limnophilia sessiflora
  • Anubias
Difficult to get a decent photo

Anubias but I am sure I have seen these when they have not flowered (on both tanks they do seem to have sensed it is spring)

Hi all, I get them in all the tanks. When I used to use a HMF they used to germinate very freely at the top of the sponges.

cheers Darrel

The same thing happened in my tank but in the emersed planters where I spilled a few loose seeds. I was really shocked when an inch long green shoot seemed to appear overnight.
