Apple shrimp ? Are you sure you didn't mean apple snail.

I've had my apple snails in with my plants for just over a year now and they've been fine. As for algae they're useless in my tank xD

I don't have much snail experience when it comes to their algae eating efficiency, but I've got freshwater nerites in both of my tanks and they seem to do a very good job of keeping both glass and plants clean.

Think i';; bear that in mind next time i pop out to a LFS :) Previously over looked snails as algae eaters
