I would believe it if it comes from IBM - they've been writing words and stuff with atoms.

It's real. It's a long exposure image. Possibly one of the 'next big things' in computer chips - atomic computers!

From what I understand its an image tracking where the electrons are (around atoms and 'flying' through bonds). Very interesting! Thanks for posting it...

isnt that an electron microscope? I thought this used lasers

An electron microscope uses electrons to 'see' an image. Not sure what this uses, but it sees electrons.
