I wondered if anyone on here was growing any Bucephalandra species? They seem to be pretty big on US boards and some of them are absolutely stunning (with prices to match!).
I can't see the images on my work computer but look forward to doing some research on these this evening. I will also contact Tropica to seen if they can offer any advice.
Yeah I've been watching some of the US threads for a while now. There's a lot of confusion over species IDs and whatnot, which isn't surprising considering only a few of them have been officially named. Some of the prices are mind-boggling (seems to be shrimp-style collectoritis of the rare ones) but if one of the big growers got on board they'd be sure to come down. Apparently Tropica have 3 or 4 species under review at the moment, so here's hoping.
I think a lot of them are amphibious rather than aquatic, but seem to grow submerged at anubias sort of speeds in the right setup.
those plants are lovely and not very difficult to grow.
Price of those plants is very high worldwide, but those plants aren't that rare anymore. We've dropped price for them already. Europeans are not like Japanese people, which are paying really alot for those plants.
At Flowgrow you can find many more pictures of those plants:
