I have two tropical Nymphaea sp.....similar to the lotus but completely red in colour. How should one treat them ? They both look awesome, big underwater leaves (ive pinched out the surface leaves) but do they die down like our native lilies or will they just stay as they are ?

Any help will be appreciated

People say that you can train them to stop sending leaves to the surface but I never found this. I just kept it in trim. Removed circular leaves whenever I saw them develop as these would always go to the surface.

Other than that just prune it to the way you want it to be by removing stems at the base.
