it's a giesemann lighting pendant and it fits a whopping 12 x 80w T5's (960watts!)

That's a lot of light, and it is only 150cm long! Thats your average 400l. you will have to have an extremely deep aquarium for this.
 
I was reading Clive's comments on lighting last week and from memory the plants max out at about 5wpg anyway, and can't use any more light (obviously with the accompanying levels of CO2/nutrients).

It would look cool, but as Sam says, total overkill :lol:
 
Can you imagine the heat coming off 960w of T5, I suppose you could switch off your central heating if you had one of these badboys running all day! :wideyed:
 
I think originally these were designed for reef tanks rather than planted ones to offer an alternative to Metal Halides. They'd probably count as medium light for a reef!!! :wideyed:
