hi all

a large portion of my cuba has become up-rooted
through a vigourous cleaning

any tips on how to bed it down,
will it re-root if i weight it down

the sustrate is pea gravel with sand and flourite sand
but the sand has all sunk as you can imagine

other question is a bit silly perhaps...

could i sit my mini landscape rocks on my cuba carpet
(not placed first and grown around as usual)

i wnat to do this do i can play with layouts and
that it would be dead easy to clean the rocks and it will also
sit them up a bit as they are not a big as i would have liked

would the cuba rot under the stones, most likely i imagine
but would it matter, would it just fertilise the other plants?
would it be a disaster? any thoughts?

btw, when a big portion of my cuba carpet was up rooted
there was piles of mulm on the substrate under it!

A lazy way is to find some small pieces of stainless wire mesh, put HC cuba on it (well spread), and cover them with a nylon mesh, and then bury (does not matter) the stainless wire mesh into the gravel again.

cut it all up with sharp scissors and re-plant with tweezers

thanks guys

i was hoping i wouldnt have to replant it in sections
but i probably will

any thoughts on my second question about
setting rocks on top of a cuba carpet

When that happens to me I just pile gravel on top of the HC to weight it down, then wait for it to grow up through the gravel again.
Seems a waste to stick rocks on top of HC as it will deifnitely kill it off. Much better to give the HC away here on UKAPS ;)
