Hi,

Came here to show our tank,
The name had a sort of inspiration on Rio Cristalino in Matogrosso Brasil, as we anted a amazonian layout but with Crystal waters. Hope you guys like it and can give us your critics.
We mounted it in September but we only started planting on October because we were waiting for the light fixture.
Still trying to get it to a state we want.

Setup:
300L Aquarium - 120x50x50
Filter JBL e1501 Greenline - 1400L/h
Heating Hydor ETH - 300w
Light Aquart - 4x54w T5 10000k; 8000k; 6500k; 4200k
Pressurized CO2 injection by TMC Aquagro 1500 Reactor
ADA Powersand Special M 6L
ADA New Amazonia 4x9L
Hydor Koralia Evolution 2800l/h

Hardscape:
2 Red Moor Branch
3 Ryouh Stones

Plants:
Myriophyllum Mattogrossense "Red"
Myriophyllum Mattogrossense "Green"
Staurogyne Repens
Didiplis Diandra
Sagittaria Subulata
Vesicularia Dubyana 'Christmas'

Fish:
Angels "Koi" Couple
Mikrogeophagus Ramirezi Couple
+/- 20 Amano Shrimps
11 Tetra Lemon
6 Corydoras Sterbai
2 Otocinclus Macrospilus

Some photos from the start of the project to its actual state:

Meanwhile we had a big algae problem, that was solved by turning off two lights and reducing the photo period to 6 hours, adjusting Co2 levels and added some new plants to have more plant biomass while adjusting EI dosing.

After the algae.

By this time we got tired of HC, the tank is to big and the angels insist on pulling it up.
So we planted E. sp. Mini as carpet plant .

Hope you guys like it ... And we are open for critics ;)

Cheers from Portugal

P.S. - Sorry for my English

That's a great size tank and your hardscape is very nice I was impressed with your HC growth.

Hi there,

That's a great size tank and your hardscape is very nice I was impressed with your HC growth.

The HC growth was never a problem, the problem was maintaining it clean in such a big aquarium and the Angels pulling it up every single day...

Looking good Nuno, thanks for sharing, looks like you are in the right path now :) Parabens

I really hope so Paulo, for now I will let it grow with no changes and see were it gets from here on ...

Cheers... Nuno Matos

Hi,

I've been following this tank since its beginning and it is a pleasure to see how it has evolved. When the Eleocharis fills in it will look brilliant!

cheers

Hi there Gustavo, good to see you here :D, hope you are right about it ... Let's wait and see... ;)

I have the same sized tank and I know how difficult it is to maintain. You're doing a really good job.

Thank's, it's not a easy task i have to admit, but it has a good side on the overall .... It really compensates wen we see results :)

I like it very much!
Must have taken a while to plant! That staurogyne is really taking off and looks great surrounding the wood.
The two rocks to the left of the wood are a little pointed, which gives them a slightly unnatural feel. I understand they will be positioned this way so you can still see a little of them once the plants grow around them though :)
Angels gone? They were lovely, but the scape has a much greater sense of scale without them. I like the addition of the alternathera reineckii mini? too, nice splash of colour.
Cheerio,
Ady.

Hi there Ady34

Angels gone? They were lovely, but the scape has a much greater sense of scale without them. I like the addition of the alternathera reineckii mini? too, nice splash of colour.

The Angels are in other tank for now, I've put more Amano Shrimp's and in the first days they are a easy prey, as they don't know were to run... :banghead: But probably they won't come back so soon as I'm trying to get hold of some Pterophyllum Scalare sp. 'Rio Nanay' maybe 5 of does ... And the ones on the pics will have an aquarium of their own (96L). They are a couple, I will see if I can get some offspring :D

You are right it's Alternanthera Reinikii 'mini' I think it will look great when it pops behind the Stourogyne Repens...

Thank you for your comments, really appreciated

Cheers, Nuno Matos

Looking great Nuno :) hows the EI experience so far?

Hi there Paulo,

It's been great so far.. Tank you again for all the help you've given me ;)
Little few changes and since I placed the Do!Aqua diffuser, I can see a better plant growth , I also ordered a digital ph meter to keep my Co2 under control and have more precise readings.
I'm now using 4x54w for 6 hours and the tank is flourishing real nice... I'm only having some problems with my Angelfish as they keep pulling the sp. Mini, and because of that I've put a net on the tank bottom so it can root without being constantly pulled up, and with this the water circulation is a bit poor at the bottom and I'm now having a bit of a problem with BGA ... Not really sure what to do now, I'm thinking on putting a bit more KNO3 salt, or do a blackout ...
I'm mounting a new tank and thinking on passing my Nanay Angelfish there till my carpet is fully compact, this way I'll get rid of the net and water circulation won't be a problem with a bit more KNO3 i think it will suffice to kill the BGA...
What do you think it's the best way to go ?

Cheers, Nuno Matos
