Cryptocoryne Green Gecko

an inch of petiole and an inch of leaf in my low tech.
George asked me for pics of this last week, just need to tidy up my tank a little then will do so (soonish).

just realised I never answered the original question!...

Yes, I have had success with it. It's an easy crypt IME :)

I've had it 3 months and it does not look even vaguely like their picture
Different colours, leaf texture, and shape!

much better prices ;)
from planted tanks and from Living Waters ( livingwatersonline.co.uk )

I just took some pics, will upload them now.
I warn you though, they are rubbish!
Fingers crossed there will be some SLR's pointing at my tank when I hold the meet at mine on Sat week :)

Re: Cryptocoryne Wendtii 'Green Gecko'

I do not think it comes across in the pics, but this is the lightest green crypt I have ever seen. It is a lovely colour. My washed out pics also do not show the leaf patterning (it is a very subtle veining).
I've amended the thread title to have the full name.

Cryptocroyne Wendtii 'Green Gecko'
In the pot (and it is a small pot! the walkeri on the right is in a more normal sized pot)

Within a week or so of planting (Aug 2010)
(I'd just freaked out the gouramis and they were all hiding under the amazon sword. I love the way they hide in plain view. Look down from above though and you would not see a thing!)

Just now (Nov 2010)
low light, blackwater (0gh, 0kh, >150TDS), low tech = slow growth!

For reference the shrimp you see in this pic is a juvenile (blue pearl) and is about 3mm long.

If I can get better pics at a later date I will post them up on this thread.

Re: Cryptocoryne Wendtii 'Green Gecko'

Good spot!... I've edited my post to show that it is indeed a Wendtii variant :)

That will be one to look forward to :D

Looks like crypts are getting a nice resurgence of late amongst the UKAPS community.

For me, this is a shining example.... Mark Webb's 'The Cryptarium': viewtopic.php?f=35&t=7037&hilit=cryptarium I suspect it has inspired a lot of members. and I note it in itself was inspired by one of your crypt tanks

and I am looking forward to seeing Chris' (ceejay) latest scape 'Beyond' grow in (although crypts do not grow in, they evolve). I think this will be quite special: viewtopic.php?f=35&t=13710

Yes thanks Matt, mine was inspired by a tank by George featured in PFK. i am considering another Crypter!

This is what it says on the aquarium Gardening site ....
One of the new Aquarium Plants this is a very attractive new Cultivar. Limited quantity Please note this plant is a Cultivar( created by man, with special breeding techniques). The young plants show the green colouration.'
' Also note the plant takes 6 months or more to develop into it's beautiful colors . Best to plant it in the supplied pot, and transplant it,
