Hi folks, does anybody have any idea what is eating my crypts and lagenandra meeboldii. It started of like a small pin hole and spreads through the leaf. I don’t see any thing eating them. The critters in the tank are:
2 kribs
Shoal of Pygmy Cory’s
Shoal of Odessa barbs
Shoal of glass cats
2 black cory’s
2 pearl gourami
1 nerite snail
1 ottocinclus
The tank is well fertilised and CO2 injected, plus Tropica root tabs are distributed well in the substrate. The growth on plant is great and has been in the crypts until recently.
No other plants are affected. Hope someone can solve the mystery.
I also use an Oase 7watt UV.

Hi
A few more details would help!
Could be Crypt Melt....or a Co2 distribution issue!
How long have the Crypts been planted?
Best if you remove all affected leaves as they will just add waste matter to the water column.
The damaged leaves will not recover.....but fresh/new leaves will appear in a few weeks time.

Hi Hoggie,
Thanks for the advice. The Crypts are from a previous set up, and are a few years old now but have until now done really well. When I first planted them in this set up they nearly all melted but came back really well. The CO2 is in line and all the other plants are growing fantastically, and achieving some great pearling. I will remove the leaves as you suggest, and see how that goes. It might be time to bight the bullet replace them.

Hi Tom
You won't need to replace them!
Unless your wanting to add a different species of plant.
You could try increasing your Co2 a touch, do you add fertilizers?

Just an update to the crypts, I have discovered that the auto doser has not been working, fortunately it is a duel doser so the decommissioned liquid CO2 pump is now being used. Still strange that although the frets have not been dosed that the rest of the growth is awesome and has just just affected the crypts. I have removed all affected leaves so now wait and watch.
