Crystal Reds & Amanos?

Hi all,

I've helped my dad set up a tank for crystal red shrimp (the house is now up to 3 tanks in 6 months... whoops!), the ph is 6.5 and GH is 5, KH is 0 - 1. We use rainwater, and then use salty shrimp for crystals to get the GH up, as KH+GH are naturally 0 - 1 in the rainwater. It's 45litres, heavily planted with lots of wood.

He's interested in keeping a few amanos with them, and I wondered if they would also do well with these parameters, or if they need the water to be a higher GH/KH? I tried to keep amanos in my rainwater tank when I started out and didn't understand then kh/gh, and even though I added a load of oyster shell in they all died after molting over 2 months, and I don't want to repeat that again. Googling has surprisingly few answers!
