& use the least amount of polystyrene you need ... a nice thick block is really a bad idea

Got some polystyrene out of some flat pack furniture to build a Base for my substrate. (money saver) it's all in place ready for siliconing together then I will be using silicone to stick it to the Base.
I realize others have chimed in on this already, but i wouldn't use the polystyrene, you'll be amazed how much weight it takes to hold it down. A better solution is to use this stuff http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301275373657?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&var=600307014784&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
It's cheap, doesn't float and with a bit of hot glue or silicone it's not going anywhere. It's also way cheaper than eggcrate. I used it in this scape https://www.ukaps.org/forum/threads/james-60p-no3-aka-orange-n-green.43042/
